Re: Good morning daily
Got any pics of what a smokeless fire drum looks like. I'm kinda interested. Our standard type choofer smokes like a bastard sometimes, probly most times, til it's got a good burn going.
Cheers

Re: Good morning daily
Jon, just bite the bullet and go the Gateway motorway. The cost is well worth the lack of stress. You can head out to the Warrego past Ipswich and then south down the New England. But, if you want to take the scenic route, still go the Gateway and head down through the Gold Coast. The waterfall way is very scenic but you won’t enjoy it as you will be just watching the road and you will end up on the New England anyway.
Whichever you choose, enjoy the journey.

Thanks Leslie,
Had a change of plans after talking to David. Headed to Toowoomba for the sprint cars, then had a change of plans after talking to David and am about to talk to David to get the final plans.

Either the New England or the Newell will get you there. I used to hate the Newell but lots of overtaking lanes now take the stress out of it.
Can highly recommend a stop at the Bendemeer Camp Ground north of Tamworth if taking the New England. Walking to the pub is rewarded by a great meal. Enjoy.

Re: Good morning daily
Bought at Bunnings, an inner drum with holes around the lower outer edges, and another lot of holes near the top, then it is rolled in to make a smaller outlet than the fire pit base.supersparky wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 6:01 pm Got any pics of what a smokeless fire drum looks like. Over this inner fire drum is an outer skin, open at the base all around and rolled in at the top and welded to the top opening.
The air is drawn into the fire through the lower holes, any wood gas released is fed oxygen through the upper holes, so the fire curls back in on the opening at the top and does a complete burn .... as long as there is some flame in the lower part of the fire ....
Better to go to a Bunning store and check them out, there is a smaller unit that we bought to carry in the motorhome, and a bigger unit more suited to a back yard ... both use the same principle of feeding air into the bottom and the fire and more at the upper exit point of the fire ....
I want to build a rocket stove with a few mods I've seen on You Tube build threads where they make water heaters and smokers and a general-purpose stove and heater unit, but I want to make it so it can be disassembled, like the one we had at Taggerty, but designed to put out more heat and an oven built into the chimney that the heat is redirected using butterfly valves to control the oven heat ...... so it doesn't take 4 hrs to cook the next cake

Good morning.
A smokeless fire
intriguing
..
I didn't achieve much yesterday.....I did get a start on a herb garden I've got planned..I'm using one of those cubed containers cut in half..I'm such a good bloke I'm letting the council Garbo take the plastic stuff to the tip for me today
..
I couldn't/wouldn't ever think of going to a retirement village..to many people and to close...
Some of the newer people in the village are buying water probably never been on tank water
.
Carol mentioned that we will be using the bore water for her gardens... next week... I'll still use our tank water for the veggies...
Enjoy Toowoomba Jon whilst you wait for the final plan.
When you get there
.
Keep safe.
Bernie.

Re: Good morning daily
Good morning, 18c NW wind prediction 28c, no rain sun still hiding behind the clouds is only 6.30.
I agree with you Bernie, over 55 style village living doesn’t appeal to us, seems to appeal to many folk who are eligible to receive the rent assistance allowance, I know many who have sold up their homes purchased in villages, spent excess $$s travelling & happily live in same.
Travel safely Jon, continue to enjoy your adventures.

Re: Good morning daily
Morning all.
I've got the plan. Boonah. (GF)
Yesterday, camped. Smoking nan and grandson camping in a hiace. The dog is eyeing off Phoenix. The boy has got him on a lead and walking around.
He breaks free and comes halfway where I shoo it back
Anyway, a introduction is made and chat about the dog. All ok, I'm told. The heckles are just ip because it wants to play.
Ten minutes later, there is a bit of a brawl between 2 dogs and this one.
Needless to say, the dog is in the hiace with the door closed.
