We water-skied behind a tinnie before I bought the mini hydroplane .... that was still illegal to ski behind because there was no room for an observer, but that never stopped us ..... we weren't rich and certainly not kids, I think I was in my early 20's Learned to single ski behind that, fitted on the roof racks on a VW square back and powered by a very stripped down (to remove weight) 20 hp Mercury outboard ..... great fun for very few $$
