dream4red wrote: Thu Oct 02, 2025 2:06 am Dot, good approach to the research mate. As for pics, well they will happen once the bits of glass miraculously turn into earrings. They are like nothing else that I have done for earrings and are getting their fry up tonight. xxxx

It feels so good to back in my shed, but not for long. Need to have space on the stall for anything else. So until the sales start to happen, not too much will be getting made.

We spent half an hour chasing around a bloody hyperactive huntsman spider tonight. I knew I wouldn't sleep until it was dead, so got out the heavy duty long lasting surface spray as well as the crawling one. Nothing knocks these mongrels out. It kept ducking under cupboards and eventually a good long blast brought it out to the open, where it met it's match...his size 9. Anyone recommend a spray that actually does kill spiders? And the other spray I desperately need is for stink bugs. They decimated out lemon tree last year and are already back. I tried the super strong spray on them today and one just looked up at me as if to say "thanks for the bath" . It had no effect n them at all...I don't want to give in to them but they are annoying me.

Tomorrow is get the will sorted out day, so I guess that will be enough for one day.

night all xxx
The sticky pads used for cockroach catching as well as mice ..... the spider get stuck, take him outside and where he sheds his skin, he will be free to go back to the great job they do ..... like sucking the insides out of stink bugs and cockroaches.
The sticky pad also works on stink bugs, they will climb over each other because they think they can beat the other bug to the feed, eventually it will be a smorgasbord for the spiders and they will continue on to eat the lot of them.

Killing a huntsman spider is counter productive, they don't spin webs, only to make an egg sack or a hasty retreat from high spots, eat all the things that give the average housewife the creeps, and once back outside, will avoid returning inside because they near starved last time .... spraying them is such a cruel way to kill them, they mean you no harm ......

Those sticky pads are really cruel, I don't like mice but those sticky pads make their deaths very slow and painful Please don't use them :( Thanks for the pic of Fred NC George. Didn't think he would last this long so you have done well. Only pulled a few bits of feral grass out of the hay and potted up another hoya cutting and a couple of loads of washing. Brian got the shock of his life this arvo. we were about to come inside when a little honey eater decided to have a feed from the grevilia right next to Brian's nose, don't know who got the biggest shock the bird or Brian? The wisteria is in full bloom now and my sister has had one for some years now and it hasn't flowered once so I had to send her the pic of mine and she replied with "smart arse" and a pic of her bare wisteria  The strawberry plants I put in the hay bale are still alive and well. Doggie sitting from tomorrow so Brian will be either happy or peed off  I can't wait until the BOB's come back again there is literally nothing on tv. Off to the shower and then hit the sack. Care on the roads and Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight VicA x :D

Dot, hope the power pole people gave you some distractions from doing too much lifting....you'll sleep well tonight mate. xxx

Terry, your opinion is valued and thought about. I had a huntsman bite me once and it caused such a nasty allergic reaction that hospital visits were involved. I do not let any spider survive in my home because if I am aware of one in the house, I will not sleep. I do not want any critters crawling over me whilst sleeping. I don't really think the sticky things are at all humane, a fast splat with a size 9 is definitely my preferred method of dispatch. The spray just is to make them crawl out from behind cupboards to where they can meet their fate.

Spent quite a long ish time with the solicitor with the thought is had for changing our wills. He was good with the advice given. I wanted to protect out children's partners, should the children die before us. The man was careful of not alarming us but explained that the more extra clauses you put into a will, the more they can be exploited. If we start to list the inlaws, do we then expect them not to ever divorce, separate or re-marry? We would have to add so many extra things that it would make the wills unsafe. We agreed that should one of our children dies before us, it would be better to get the wills dealt with then, because we would have a better understanding of what was needed at the time. The best things about that? After the discussions were over, he did not charge us anything because he didn't have to write anything or change the current documents. A free legal discussion, can you believe that?

We then had a bit of shopping to do. I wanted a new light fitting, so that was dealt with pretty easily. Then we hit a couple of junk shops that I rarely can get to, because they are out of our usual shopping areas. I found the things that I wanted and then started to check out the lollies. Most are imports, so don't buy them, but know that Menz factory in S.A. do some pretty good nibblies and all local stuff. They make Bumbles dark choc coated honeycomb that is to die for and only available in junk shops. Then I found some new treats. They now make tiny chocolate coated frogs and snakes. Yummo, says his nibs

After such a lot of driving around and fiddle farting we came home exhausted.

night all xxx

Well, I've had a bit of a big day, turning biggies into littlies.
We have a few biggish shrubs out the front. They just keep growing, along with the Bouganvilleas that I planted 20 odd years ago.
I've been up on the step ladder with the chompers, til they failed to proceed, then the electric chainsaw. It was all a bit dodgy, but I didn't do a George and eat dirt.
One more big fella to go and I'll be done. Just means at least 2 more trips to the green waste disposal area.

Finished up like this

Ended up roped down like this.

I've got more more cuts and contusions than usual after my day of fun in the garden.
Edit . Some spelling errors

We had a big arsed mulcher that ate that size stuff, then had all the neighbours come and ask for some  No tip fees anyway ..... might need to buy another one when I attempt to turn the tree out the front back into a hedge

It's not just your sister Dot, I failed wisteria too. Looked lovely and lush all year round but after 5 years with no flowers it got used for BBQ wood (those were the days). Hope you are both doing well xxxx

After all the running around yesterday, we were both bushed today. I photocopied our wills to give to each kid, so they know what to expect. They had asked for same in the past, I just haven't got around to it until now. The solicitor suggested that I laminate the old birth certificate before it self destructs as a replacement will cost $80. So I got a few things sorted to laminate and have a session going. When I got to the birth cert., I became stumped again. Of course all legal documents from that era were printed on foolscap paper. I will have to find a source of foolscap laminating pouches. Seems like this job is just one step forwards and two steps back. We have a book with all the things the kids need to know, carefully printed in it. I spent a fair bit of this afternoon getting right into it and updating phone numbers and addresses for people who the kids may need to contact about things.

The earrings came out of the kiln and I really have done no more with them. I will have to get down to glueing some bits onto them soon.

I got my lamination sleeves from eBay, 80 micron x 100 sleeves, good price but you have to search for the best price and for the quantity that you need, plus o for free post.

Chasing new doggie keeping you busy Dot?   xxxx

Keith thank you for the wonderful advice. You are so full of good ideas. I will use that idea when I need replacement laminator sheets.

We had a visit from our son and DIL today. Lucky they gave us a bit of warning. I rushed around getting the floors clean and making sure there was enough food to give them if necessary. Son helped his nibs with a couple of car things and DIL came inside for a cuppa. I told her about the solicitor telling me to laminate the birth certificate. She works in the Dept of Justice in the foster kids section and she just about laughed herself silly. Any time her workers take documents into other departmental sections they get told to put the laminated ones in an album and to get new ones as the laminated ones were not legal. Makes me wonder about our solicitor and whether everything he said was right or not. DIL told me to put the certificate back in the envelope and let the kids worry about when needed. It's not in that bad condition that it's not properly readable, so ok. Not going to laminate the certificate now.

They left just before dinner time to catch the easier run on the freeway, so didn't have to discover something they would eat for dinner. I won't eat junk food and they are full of it so I expect they will have had Maccas before they got too far.

Deborah do a sneaky ,go to another lawyer a free 1st visit and see what he says, Different states have different rules. Rosie dog arrived at 3pm and Brian just had a bum sniff then walked away and went to bed. All blacks won their 11 straight game over the Wallabies but Aust beat NZ in the cricket. The guy was having a garage sale this arvo so Rosie's mum went to see if there were any books so I asked him how his father in law was doing? and he said "he died in July"  Found some little orange bugs on a couple of hoyas so they got the treatment, water, metho, and some dish washing liquid, squirt all over and within a few minutes I rubbed the dead bugs off. Next will be the fruit trees when in full bloom and of course the roses will also get a bath. At last my sweet peas have started to flower such a lovely scent along with the beautiful lilac tree and wisteria. A lovely change from the winter dullness. Strawberries in hay bale still doing well. Q/ What are your thoughts on that missing little boy ? very strange indeed 1 shoe print, no clothing, experienced tracker=0, dogs picked up nothing, no parents to be seen, hmmmm. And right now I am going to hit the sack so Take care everyone and goodnight x :D Goodnight Ray x :D
