"tanks is ON THE ROAD again

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

"tanks is ON THE ROAD again

Post by Keith Morris »

'tanks" is mobile and heading NORTH to the warm weather. I'm heading to Perth today and then going to try the OCEAN COAST ROAD from Clarkson to all points North via Marmion Ave tomorrow.
I hope to meet up with Forum Members along the way.
Keith & " Russell"

I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

"tanks" here ---
I have got the laptop thing working thanks to a young bloke at Telstra who has set me up on a 3G thing that you plug into the side of the laptop and it is supposed to work when I am on-the-road -----if i can get a signal.

I made it to BROOME and I have been here for just over 1 week. I had my 65th birthday up here so I decided to have my 75th birthday up here with all of my old mates.
There are only 2 of the old friends still here, but the RSL is a good place to spend a few hours.

I had my 75th birthday drinks there and had a good time with the locals.
My 75 year old Mother passed away in Brisbane at 4am on 5th June, which was a bit hard to take with a hell of a hang-over after my 4th June birthday bash.

My plan now is to head to Darwin for the 1st Armoured Regiment Reunion late in June. Broome has just had 6 inches of rain in the past 24 hours, but it is still warm and better than the 5 degree overnight temps in the Wheatbelt. There is a CIRCUS in town and last night the camels and donkeys escaped from their enclosure. Can you imagine camels and donkeys AND GREY NOMADS running loose in Chinatown. Never a dull moment in the West.

I have not met up with any Forum members, either on the road or in the towns, but they must be out there somewhere.
I hope to hear from you all out there soon. My next venture is Broome to Derby [or points North} but I wont be doing the Gibb River Road, so iof you are on the black-top keep an eye out for me and I will be on UHF Ch 40, so give me a call. ["tanks motorhome"
is the call sign].

C-U as thats all for now

"tanks" here---I am still in BROOME enjoying the sunshine and the nice nights. The RSL is a good water hole with stubbies at $3.50 and the friday night bbq and good company. Visitors are welcome and the traveling public make good use of the facilities. The club has had several improvements since I was last here some years back, with more tv sets for watching the footy. The club is open every day with Church Parade on Sunday morning to help you recover from saturday night. There is good parking available at the front and side of the club, with room for big-rigs.

My next move is to DERBY to collect my snail mail. I am undecided just when I will get thew wheels rolling as Russell has not christened all of the trees yet and is enjoying himself going for walks with me. Russell made friends with a Jack Russell bitch, but I have not found a "golden granny" on Cable Beach.

I am free-parked up at a friends place so I don't get to see very many m/homers about the place, compared with being parked in a c/park, but without the $50 a night for a site in a caravan park I am able to stay in BROOME for a much longer period and spend my money at the supermarkets. Diesel is around $1.67 a litre at most outlets.

I had my 65th birthday in Broome at the RSL, and now I had my 75th birthday at the Broome RSL. My dear Mum passed away on 5th June at 04:00am --the time of my birth was 04:00 am on 4th June.
I am now undecided if I do the DARWIN run and come back through Alice Springs, or just keep going and have a look at CAIRNS and the East Coast. The initial plan was to arrive in Brisbane for my Mums 95th birthday.
Thats it for now --- Keith

Keith I'm so sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. Very sad time indeed!
I noticed in one of your earlier posts that you mentioned she was 75, the same age as you, and thought I'd correct it for you but I didn't as it's not so important I guess?
95 is a good innings in anyone's language though but it's still not a happy time for family & friends.
Hi to Russell!!!
