OK, I'll try with photos

This one shows the rope through the awning looped the rope already in the sail track, pulling the rope at the end of the sail track while feeding the awning material into the sail track ..... not very successful, kept bunching up the awning material on the rope because the rope was trying to pull through without the awning

Attempt two. Vice grips on awning material and a doubled length of elastic cord to act as the tensioner

Winch until elastic stretched, pull rope through as guide in sail track, direct awning material into sail track

There were a few more bits required, because I didn't have a nice shed to work in and the wind only died down long enough to con me into getting started, then changed direction
This was to bunch the awning together and pull it over the roof so the wind didn't turn it into a kite

The other end of the awning secured at the rear so it didn't get caught in the wind and sail right over the roof

The towel with the knot in the end is for when the wind catches the door and swings it open against the side of the body ..... there are a number of fibreglass repairs needed already where the door hit the corner of the bin door when it was open

Terry, on our Winny, the previous owner fitted a hook and saddle gizmo to stop the outer door from trying to bear itself to death.
He also removed the little gas strut from the top of the door.

Yeah, the wind didn't think that was sufficiently secure, so it ripped the screws out holding the hook part on the door, slammed it shut, the next time it was opened, swung it back unto the edge of the bin door, digging yet another hole in the door ....

So the towel became the go to temporary fix, it is trapped between the flyscreen door and the main door, so when the door swings wide open in the wind, the knot in the towel saves the louvre windows from being shattered ....

I do not know Jd there has been no mentions of such a thing and as for the "black gunky stuff" didn't someone say it is T Rex? who puts dinosaurs poop onto things? Are the gas tanks fixed?

Were the gas tanks broken Dottie?
I thought when you went to fill them up then discovered a "leak" half way i thought it was a "hole" in the tank itself. My bad

That 21st century dinosaur poop sure sets fast, and just like the dog dropping on the front lawn, it appears to turn white in the sun .... Other things do that as well

I can see the wind would be a mongrel to work in
I'm set up to be feeding and pulling the awning through at the same height as the rope track...AND .. hopping I don't have the problem your having... time will tell..

I can't remember how I fitted mine, but I did it by myself.

Terry, can you loosely roll the material on the barrel and then sit it on a trolley.

As it's threaded up the track, wheel the trolley along too.
