Battling local politics is a sure fire way to start a forum war ..... so please, don't start a local or Australia based political thread, I will close it if I can catch it quick enough to avoid all out war on the keyboards .....

To me, Trump and the US is nothing to do with our political system, the US has their own brand of democracy, you can't even get a sausage when you vote. Adding to that, Trump does do stuff that we see as funny, I'm guessing the US citizens aren't laughing, but we sort of get to laugh at them for being too lazy to get out there and vote.

I am glad we have a system that requires everyone to vote, if you intentionally make you vote invalid, then you can't honestly complain about the end result.

It will be interesting to see what happens as the Trump saga unravels ..... it will show, once and for all, if the president does actually have the power of a dictator or king, or the president is still a servant of the people.

No matter what, it is a wake up call to remain vigilant in regards to who is really running the country, the filthy rich, or the elected government and laws that control them ....

I agree with T1 (a rare occurrence!), let’s keep Oz politics off this forum.
I vaguely recall that comment on this contributed to the flying mud and personal insults that shut down the forum from which the majority of OUR members are refugees.
(I shall not risk naming the club involved for fear of receiving a piece of lawyer’s paper.😉😇)

Of course, the rest of the world could see that Don Taco is a creation of TV producers, and his “amazing business acumen” was carefully scripted for entertainment. The problem was, he believed the script was reality!
His candidacy for President of the (then) powerhouse of the world economy was a joke. It’s just that Americans don’t have that satirical humour, so they didn’t see the joke.
THAT’s why this thread is in the JOKES page!
He IS a walking talking disaster area — I mean JOKE.

The best explanation I've heard is the fence post tortoise analogy:

It's clear the tortoise didn't get there on its own, someone put it there. Now it's there, all it can do is wave its legs and head about due to it being totally out of its element and no idea about what it should do now it's there. Unless someone removes it from the position it finds itself in and returns it to crawling around in the mud, it will die, because it is exposed to elements beyond its control or understanding
