Dottie, I was trying to keep the Winnie thread for actual work I've done/am doing on the Winnie .... although that probably hasn't really been happening to date

So, Dottie, you will have to read every thread on the forum now, so you can piece together what fun things are happening with T1 and Margaret :D

I did say I'd update this thread when things settled down a bit ..... so, maybe tomorrow, or the next day .... or when ever things actually do settle down

Terry, if your fridge just happens to hinge from the right hand side, there are a number of domestic fridges that will almost fit where a 180 litre Dometic is. Just a little bit of cabinetry required. Unlike ours that needs to hinge from left. That cuts down the number substantially. We are getting a Dometic compressor fridge, didn't have much choice. Our cabinets needed work anyway, as you could imagine.
The repairer rang me yesty, the old roof skin is off. He said he could see where the steel frame of the roof is. He says he's got lots of pics. Did I already tell you that Mr Winnebago just screws down the solar panels at the factory using 16mm wood screws?
Cheers

I don't know if our Winnie even has steel framing in the roof  The two solar panels on our roof are screwed and glued down .... glued to the rubber skin naturally, so nothing but good luck and the lack of room under them for air to pass, I'm guessing they pull down tighter the faster the air passes over ..... and that is why they are still there

Our fridge/freezer does hinge on the right, but aren't most of them built with reversable hinges so they can open from either side?
We have that monstrous space above the fridge where the electrics live, and a drawer under it, so I'm guessing the upgrade will be to a bigger fridge with a bottom mount freezer .... Margaret seems to prefer that set up ..... she can see in the freezer then ;)
If we do fill the available space and move the electrics to the space above the microwave, then I'll be on call for anything to be placed or recovered from the top two shelves

Along with all the others, we will cross that bridge when we come to it .... seriously considering changing the rego to SA ..... this last fiasco has me reconsidering any value in the whole free rego thing ......

Suggestion,
Maybe when telling about Serious work being done then use the normal black colour.
When just casual talk maybe use another colour then one look and that will tell what we are in for ? :? :?

Terry, the main limiting factor is being able to get the fridge into the motorhome. The doorway width is the telling factor. All of the caravan/motorhome fridges I have looked at have reversible door hinges, but quite a lot of the domestic ones aren't.
Most of the bottom mount ones are too wide to get through a Winnebago doorway.

I've seen fridges installed via a window.

I could cut the back out behind the fridge and slide it in that way ..... sounds about as hard as trying to get a window out and back in again on the Winnie. The friend who built the mega big bus and trailer, put their fridge/freezer in through the windscreen opening, before the new windscreens were cut and fitted .... then the fridge failed

Had a battle getting the lounge in through the door, I doubt the same push and squeeze method would work as well with a fridge ..... I could always do the washing machine trick ;)
