Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
And another stinker hits the dust, we got to 45deg just after 2pm. Only the many water bowls were attended to today and our birds and their misting fan. Brian did a quick run outside for his business but was very smartly back inside. How come when a story breaks on the news that is all you hear for the next couple of days then nothing because another big story has broken ??Have they caught the cop killer that went bush weeks ago? the little boy from near Alice, the other killer of his pregnant wife and another lad? Then there are the floods and the many fires which there has been nil about?? But these rallies all over the country mean zip to 99% of people. Security cameras, how many people have them and do they make you feel safer if maybe you have neighbours like Bernie or Tanks squatters. Be careful if the weather is hot Shirley with you playing bowls.Going to get some crushed ice when a tad cooler to flush the loo with, they do that with the big plane's vac loos as the ice cleans the tubes nicely. Shower time then watch some tennis for a bit. Goodnight everyone x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, you are getting a much hotter time now, than us. It was hot, but pleasant here. Hope the birds enjoy that water fan and you can relax until the heat is passed. get that air conditioner working as soon as you need it mate xxxx
Well done on the green there Shirley. I suspect that a lot of our usual crowds for our big breaky down the Point, went to your bowlo instead. Usually, we can hear the hoardes crowding down the street on the way to the free breakie, but there was a very quiet controlled crowd this year. I didn't have the energy to walk down there so stayed in a cool bed instead. Breaky is over by 10 at the Point, but that is when I was getting out of bed.
The habibis next door had a huge family get together. Lots of cricket and BBQ, even had a recording of the Nat Anthem playing for a while. They are mostly a good family who only get together for special days and then they really party. It was all happy and laughter, so what better neighbours to have.
Hope you all had great Aussie Days and stay as cool as possible. night all xxx

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Had enough of this stinking weather, can't get outside until late but then the mozzies get yu. Did washing and it dried within 10 minutes. This morning I went to do the bird baths and there was a beautiful parrot sitting on the rock in the water Don't know what type but it had a pretty pale blue head, it stayed there so I waited till it had gone. Very pretty indeed. Tennis is not going the Oz way but the Demon gave his all. Under the veranda it said 48.4 deg even with the shutters down the glass inside was hot. Brian is off to the vet in the morning, nothing to eat of drink from midnight, his crate is all ready and his Elizabethan collar is all cleaned and ready. While he is asleep having his eye lid growth removed he is also having his teeth cleaned. Stay cool and hydrated one and all. Shower time so Goodnight everyone x

Poor Brian. Hope he can feel better soon . That damned collar is such a necessity but so undignified for him. The weather should be getting a bit cooler for you Dot. Hope so, for your sake. xxxx
As Shirley, said it wasn't that bad here, just an accumulation of the last weeks being so hot and not much movement in the air today.
I managed to get a bit more of the necessary tidying done, but it does seem like a never ending process here. I put things away and he manages to leave as much lying around as I have tidied. He is untrainable and driving me nuts...yep that's the humidity speaking.
Sometime lately, he fed the roses with some potash, and now my double delight roses are flashing very bright red edges. They have never looked so good and the colour is nothing like they usually have. Don't know if that's what they are meant to do or not, but it's a definitely different colour way than the paler shades that they usually have.
I spent a fair bit of time dead heading the dahlias. They have been prolific this year, even with the heat and not getting the rainfall that they have endured last summer. The garden is surviving this weird summer weather and the weeds are all very happy. ggrrr.

I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Good night all. After a cooler day, it started to rain ... in Mannum, hard to believe eh .... but after around 20 drops, it has moved on the Riverlands place I reckon
Had my Shingles first shot and pneumonia short, seems there is something going around that just sets in on the lungs, no cold or anything as a warning, just run out of breath quickly and if left unchecked, you die apparently. The nurse who was administering the shorts said she very nearly lost her 69 yr old husband, a few weeks back. They were in Murray Bridge at the time, he had been steadily getting more and more breathless and exhausted, so she took him into the clinic, even though he just wanted to go home, next minute, they had him in an ambulance on oxygen and off to Murray Bridge hospital .....
So, well worth getting the shots

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
How did the vet visit go Dot? Is Brian happy to wear the collar for a while? Hope you are able to stay cool, this heat is just a bugger xxxx
Today I had to do a fairly heavy clean of the house. I have the pest man coming tomorrow and don't want to disturb his sprays etc once they are in place. I really did more than my usual physical in a day and I am buggered. It's still hot, but tonight we had a lovely cooling breeze flow through. It hasn't been anywhere near as hot at SA, so thinking of you all. Hope you have good air cons that are keeping your worlds pleasant.
I have learnt that school is only back for the teachers. The kids don't return until next Monday. That does not explain the quietness of our area. The bay and the road have been very quiet. I am wondering where all the kids have gone to? It is really way too quiet for school holidays in this town. Maybe the kids have just stayed indoors for the hottest parts of the day.
Stay cool you lot

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Deborah, re the lack of kids, my guess would be home playing one another on the internet.
We visited the skin cancer clinic today, Bruce had a thing growing just below his neck removed & I had a biopsy on my nose both sent of to pathology.
The local family will be home tomorrow it sure has been quite on the home front with them away, the house being demolished is between us, it’s slow going as it contains asbestos, the guys working on it today must of been extremely hot in their protective gear.
Good night everyone
