Northern Gold Coast Overnight Spot

Post by cedtrains »

The Labrador AFL Tigers have a flat area, some of it grassed which is available to those LNT certified vehicles for the princely sum of a membership $6.00. I was speaking to the manager tonight and he welcomes the idea. Weekends could be a bit noisy and footy game days would stretch the friendship, but plenty of room, I have seen a semi parked there over in one corner.
Just see the manager at the club, show your CMCA card and take it from there.
Access is via Ashton Street Labrador off Brisbane Road, there are traffic lights and whether coming from Brisbane or up the Coast turn south. Immediately on your left is the Labrador Shopping Center and the road does a sharp left, continue straight across instead of left over the small bridge and the car park opens up in front of you. The grassed area is to the left, the larger parks will be on your right up near the footy oval. There are two deep spoon drains so be aware of them.
Meals are available and are good value, we go there a couple of times a week. Shopping is available by walking to either the Labrador Shopping Center about 100 yards or HarborTown Complex with cinemas etc a ten minute walk. Buses run on Brisbane road into Southport and Surfers and Movieworld / Dreamworld are a bus ride away. Good range of shops such as Supercheap, Jaycar, BCF etc all within the immediate area.
Almost impossible to find something like this close to all these amenities, particularly on the Gold Coast.

Sure sounds good, there a few clubs around with a similar attitude. Doyalson RSL near Lake Macquarie has a similar set up at the rear of their car park. There is a toilet block and a cold shower as well if your tough and hardy. tell the people on the desk before going in for a meal and they enter it into a book, then you are covered by insurance, and they give you a card to rig security if you ever need it and they say they will be there in a flash. It was a while ago we were last there but I'm hoping it's still the same deal. joining the club was something like $6, and that entitled you to discount meals and drinks, paid for itself really.

Thanks Shirley. It is a really good spot to over night when travelling up from this way, meals are good and the people are friendly.

Another example of how the ''LNT Scheme'' is attractive to clubs such as Labrador Tigers

Yep please Derek if you have any for the ones that are interested, but still won't get me paying for things I do not need. But I bet you a weeks worth of grey water storage there will be someone with that LNT sticker on that frigs it up by doing the wrong thing, always is always will be. Just look at all the self contained vehicles(LNT qualified) that do the wrong thing, a sticker ain't gunna make an ounce of difference IMHO. I see those along the same lines as the disabled stickers and parking spaces..

No Sticker no entry...................Which means No wizbangs No car sleepers and if a motorhome or caravan is seen doing the wrong thing, report it and let the issuing authority withdraw their sticker..............No sticker No entry

I have just submitted our LNT application on line :)

Easy as, and I think Rudi may be on a winner with authorities to secure free/lowcost parking by pushing the LNT scheme, even if we know some will abuse it, the concept will sit well with Government. I think Derek is spot on, no wizbangs, no station wagons - No sticker = No entry. And the best part is it's FREE for members. Oh, not a member, bugger

So if the general public wanted one they would have to pay $60.50 for the privilege!

Please explain to me how that can be FREE? Sounds more like exclusive discrimination to me.

And besides, FREE died - I know, because I went to his funeral.

Experience is a wonderful thing. It helps you recognise a mistake when repeated.

No, I didn't say it was "FREE" I said it is "FREE for members", NOT the general public, they can organise and arrange their own LNT scheme and talk to Government ;)
