Windows 8 ... Oh No!

Post by BruceS »

OK, I've started converting my files & folders over to my Windows 8 Laptop.
It's a whole new learning curve!
Anyone else doing the same or done it?
What do you use for your emails?
How do you like the way of closing programs?
Programs are now known as "apps" ....... like Apple?
Anyone got a 'tip' they've discovered?
I found Windows + E and Windows +X handy.

The Email system that I ams using is Window Live Mail I think its the one that comes with it not bad seems to do most things that I need, I am still trying to work a few things out. Good Luck...

Cheers Ros.

The fact that the home page is fully active, unlike the Apple icon method, makes it so much more advanced I doubt they will ever catch up. It is a big step away from the old, but a step into the future, once fully acquainted and comfortable with it, you could never see yourself going back. Like all new technology, a steep learning curve, i am yet to start mine, waiting for Margaret to get a lot more familiar with it first.

I'm very interested in running Linux on it but it appears the gentlemans agreement between Toshiba & Micro$oft is a stumbling block. (Google UEFI )
Russell I did consider MAC but no one I talked to could assure me that my website creation 'tools' would work & I wasn't in the mood to be experimenting with a doz new programs.
