Fluoro light
We have 3 fluoro lights in the van. One died a while ago in Gunnedah and we simply replaced the tube. A second one died a few days ago so we bought a new tube. No go! Tried the tube in another socket and worked okay. Got out the multimeter and established that there was power at the input side but no power out of the ballast/starter. Any ideas?

We thought about the starter. Searched the Internet but can't see it as a separate thing. Bruce, we have more power than we know what to do with, have looked at LED replacements and found that an 84 LED replacement bulb only outputs a quarter of the current fluoro.

must be a bugger to have all that extra juice!!! One of the reasons I am hesitating to go all LED. I have some, but they play up on the radio, not sure about the tv because we never turn the dam thing on when we are away!! The LDs played havoc with the one in the old winne though

Re: Fluoro light
Lesley, Sometimes it is cheaper/ easier to just replace the whole fluro if you decide to keep them. What type are they? Maybe a pic could help.
Cheers

Re: Fluoro light
Simple LED strips in place of the tube, probably warm white as cool white maybe just too bright. The numbers aren't a fair indication of the amount of light, our whole back patio is lit up with one string of warm white led's, something the two twin tube fluros couldn't do. the roof lights in the big bus were fluro, replaced them with cool white LED strips and it become a near death experience at night, had to take a lot of them out.

Here is a pic of the offending item. There is 12v at the red and black side but zip at the white wires.

Re: Fluoro light
What kind of numbers are you referring to? I compared 1300 Lumen in the fluorescent tube with some 400 Lumen in the LED Light and thought that would only emit a third of what we are replacing.T1 Terry wrote:..The numbers aren't a fair indication of the amount of light

Might need something like this to replace your PCB board?
