Cliff Head WA Indian Ocean Dr 36 km south of Dongara

Post by weezanickinoff »

Fantastic by the sea Cliff Head Free Camp, the main entry area has a toilet and Skip Bins but head north and south at the end of the main area to along the beach tracks and you'll find a multitude of camps some more sheltered than others all with sea views,
PLEASE RESPECT THE FISHING HUTS & KEEP AWAY FROM THEM or this terrific Camp area will be closed because of ferals pinching water and camping on their doorstep. There's tons of room for everyone.
Dongara is 36 km north and has all needs with very good parking.
The place where we camped had entry from a road just south of the main entrance, best for Big Rigs.

Wendy a lot of us don't have that 'book'.
Is 301123s 1150007e the same as 30.1123s 115.0007e ?
If so we can just put that in Google maps to see where it is. I can't see Dongara though.

Oh the hard questions  I don't know that's from my iphone??? and that's exactly where we are, right now.
Dongara is south of Geraldton, Cliff Head 6km south of where the Indian Ocean Drive meets the Brand Hwy.
or the only other Camps we have is 5 and it's #436 in it.
They say it's 29 30 54s 114 59 51e
Don't understand these GPS differences!!!! :?

Thanks Wendy........ got it!
If you zoom in on Google maps & then right click on the position & select "what's here" you'll see the coordinates in the address bar.
Vice-versa if you put those coordinates in your description of the site, anyone can cut & paste them into the Google Maps address bar & go straight to it.
JFYI (just for your info)
You are doing a really good job indexing all those places...... might just follow your footsteps except for the 'old folks home' bit!!!

;) :P

Worth investing in a Camps book, buy one when they are on special Camps 6 should be on special now that camps 7 is out, often camping shops have them on special too.

Thanks Shirley,

Yep I think you'll find more would have a "Camps" book than don't have one. It really is a free camper's bible. At least they cater for Big Rigs as well as all the rest, whereas some don't. I am definitely not one of the CMCA bashers, but the one CMCA are selling right now, for a Motorhome Club I was disappointed that it didn't cover camp recommendations for Big Rig Campers.

Cheers

Hi Guys.... Just a little more on Cliff Head we checked it out this time last year and some of the camp spots that went left and right from the main entry (near Toilet Block and Dump Bin) were very sandy and a couple of caravanners got themselves bogged, so I would suggest that maybe you do a walk in first, the area near the fishermans huts was OK.. There was also a mountain of sea weed and you where unable to walk on the beach, but I guess this changes from time to time. I think we may have missed the entry that Weezanickinoff found, glad you guys found a good spot.

Cheers Ros.
