Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

They sing a sweet tune when they are running right, a sound so easily identified. This one has carby issues so it's only idling on the right hand carby, the other one starts to work at about half throttle.

I had extractors & straight-through mufflers ( ;) ) fitted to ours.
Sounded so sporty the EPA wanted to test it.
So the mechanic put the originals back for the test, then refitted the extractors after it passed.
Performance improved noticeably, too! Some hotted-ups got a surprise at the lights!
 ;)

We always get a second look when we fuel up, not many people have seen a '74 Kombi running on LPG 8-) Gotta get this carby problem sorted so I can refit the LPG part and get it back on the road, need that Kombi smile again :D

Memories of youth, we used to get pulled up for a noisy exhaust with the orders to take it home and have it fixed and report back to the cop shop the following day so we would go home ram fly wire up the offending exhaust and present it back for ear testing. It lasted a few hrs after the copper said, "that's much better". (sucker) anyway goodnight everyone x :D

Do you remember how much you paid for it Steve? The going price for a fully restored one (with a photo history of the restoration to show all the rust repairs being fully welded) between $26,000 and $45,000, double those figures if you put it in a container and ship it to either Europe or pommie land. Don't you wish you still had it now

$5300

It was a great vehicle at the time - we had 4 kids.

Would I love to have it now? Well, if I had an enormous shed and a wallet to match - yes. However, as a practical vehicle for the modern world, comfort and safety shortcomings would reduce it to being practical for annual club get togethers - just like the 1948 Studebaker and the 1968 Renault 10, 71 Renault 16TS, Citroen DS23, amongst others, that I owned and would like to have in that mythical shed.
