Karijini campsites?

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Karijini campsites?

Post by Loki »

Hi,
I will be traveling to Karijini NP soon, and wonder if anyone can tell me about campsites and caravan parks in the area? Also, is water available and if so, is it drinkable? Thanks in advance,
Anton

Hi Loki,
There are national park camps at Dales Gorge. No drinking water, no dump point no power, no shower, except at the visitor centre, showers available
At the Tom Price end, theres the Eco Village,(Weero Gorge I think)
Slightly more pricey, solar showers available, restaurant still no dump point no power there either.
Basically you take it in, you take it out
Enjoy :)

Re Karijini
The best place is at Dales, they have 2 Camp Hosts working there during the peak season.
There are sites / areas specially for gen powered units .
Toilets are long drop with cleaning brushes and water supplied.
There is also a "Cassette Only" dump point as well in the , I think, Cockatoo area.

There is also water at the turn off to Dales but it's not supposed to be drinkable.
I passed it thru our silver oxide filter system into the van and didn't get any bugs ( we boil it any way )

The road to the Eco Village from Dales / Visitor center can be a bit rough in places and unless your camping there or have an O/R van I wouldn't be taking it down that road.
I'd be trying the entrance from the western end.

We stayed there for just over a week last month and enjoyed the whole experience.
Walk one day
Rest second day etc
Next ( July 4 ) Thurs getting knee replaced and this was the "last walk" on the old broken knee.
Paying for it now but it was worth it all.

If your approaching from the south thru Newman avoid Kumarina R/H as I nearly died at the price if fuel ! ! ! !
Similar at the Naturamana (?) out on the highway junction.
Every one in the know just puts in enough to get to the next town.
