Your welcome Peter, and welcome to the forum. Some photos and a bit of story on your change over would be good, it may help others with there decision whether to keep the air con or ditch it for a powered vent.

Considering following T1 ........ That lump on my roof is just for looks & to block up a 14" square hole!
Bob offerred kindly to 'pump it up' but then I'd need a bigger genny or a bigger block of Li's...
Just had a thought......... if I remove that A/C then I've got a dedicated 240V power supply to run a decent zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ... What are they called Dot?

I am still at a loss to figure out how these fans can cool things down to anywhere near comfortable when the outside temp is in the 30's & 40's? as a redhead once said "please explain" :D

Comfortable cool isn't the temp being 23 deg C, it's the body being able to use it’s automatic temp control system properly. If there is air movement across the skin the body can send moisture to the surface to evaporate off the skin. Water can move 3 times the heat energy of air alone, so a gently breeze can cool you down 3 times faster than the outside temp alone being cooler. the same moisture on the skin can make you feel even hotter if there is no air movement to carry the moisture away.
Hot air rises, cool air falls, if the fan extracts the hot air at the highest point in the roof then next hottest air will move up to replace it, this creates a constant air movement heat exchange. The reverse in the evening when sleeping, a breeze over the body will evaporate the sweat and the body cools, so the air from outside at roof level is pulled in and blown gently over the bed and exits either out a window or through the door vent.

I finally got our new vent installed last week. I have been meaning to do this for five years, Terrys post encouraged me to finally get around to it. Very pleased with result.

We had two aircons, but rarely used the one in the bedroom so have replaced it with a Maaxair 7000. I set it to automatic 21 degrees Yesterday , it opened and started extracting air at about 10am. We are running the front aircon to maintain 26 degrees. Interestingly the bedroom is staying three degrees lower than the living room. We turn the aircon off at night, but use the fan to bring cool air into the room. Very pleased with the result.

We are in Darwin where it is 32 degrees every day. These fans do a lot more than block a 14 inch hole :)
