Greg and Dee' s meanderings

Post by GregnDee »

So, we are still at Kungala.....sort of! I (Dee), am in Sydney, and will be flyng to Phuket with my daughter to have our dental work done, on sunday. My daughter was quoted $16,000 here for the work she needs,...her teeth are so bad now she can only suck her food! I'm just having a few minor jobs done, but still cheaper, with the flights etc., than here.

Greg is staying to do the last two weeks of house/dog sitting, and getting the car and caravan ready for the next part of our trip.

Plans are flexible, as we are now going to spent a week with friends on Inglewood, and then head to Fraser Island, to meet up with my son ...we hope, as he hasn't booked his flight yet! Then heading to Birdsville, slowly! Then of course south to strathalbyn, before heading back to Gippsland. We don't expect to be back in Victoria until the end of November.

Well, that's the plan at the moment! Watch this space!

Will let you know how I get on at the Thai dentists if you like!

Cheers

Yesterday the daughter and I went to the dentists for our consultation.

Lovely place, dentist great. I have to have 3 extractions, one crown and a bridge. He also has to do another deep clean, as the Aussie dentist (charge $500) only cleaned the front of my teeth, not the back! He showed me! Total charge will be 30,000 baht. Give or take.

My poor daughter! She has to have root canal work, NINE CROWNS, a bridge with three teeth, 2 extractions. Charge 178,000 baht. $6000. How much would that cost in Australia. Needless to say she was in tears.

Met another client there, she's had even more work done and is over the moon with the treatment! Oh, and its guaranteed! For five years for crowns.

So I will keep you informed. We are off for some retail therapy today. Dentists appointment for tonight. Yes, they work at night too, and seven days a week.

Had a foot massage yesterday, daughter Kate had a full Thai massage, where they climb all over you!
Awesome. Cost equivalent of $10,

....ok, back to the shopping and the pool....

Cheers

Mine won't look much different as my front teeth are ok. Having three extractions tonight, plus prep my crown. That'll be in about 6 hours.

In the meantime, daughter has had a meltdown. Don't blame her. Root canal on Tuesday night, finishing around 9 pm. Then prepping of all her nine crowns...0800am ....four hours work. Then fillings...which didn't get done as she had her meltdown....supposed to have been at 4 pm. Then deep cleaning...which seemed daft to me as most of her teeth are currently in temp crowns.

I had an amazing deep clean the dentist was a tiny Thai woman with little fingers...took ages as the dentist in Grafton had ailed to do it properly...had only done the front of the teeth not the back...charged $540 for that too! Will complain but they have us over a barrel.

So daughter has fillings plus extractions today, too.

Plus I can only cope with my daughter in very small doses!

Update tomorrow.

Weather torrential rain, hot and humid.
Knew that when I booked.

Hugs
Dee
