Countdown :: Dapope Hits The Road 13th July 2013

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Rennie Springs about 200 k north of Tennant Creek. $20.00 per night - no power or water, just dirt. They really get at the traveller up here in NT. Free Spirit Resort on the Stuart Highway 18 k south of Darwin - $49.00 per night in an OK but crowded CP. Let's say that you get 40 square metres of land for your $350 per week. That makes a small house block of 500 square metres worth $4200 per week. I don't think there is much chance of the CP being bulldozed for development.

Jees, and it still cost $25 a night. Though the WA government was trying to encourage tourism. Guess Broome hasn't heard of their initiative.

Well, you can pay $50 plus per night elsewhere in Broome. For us, it was a needed stop. Fuel, food water and pedicure for the better half, and a break after a run of 600km for the day :-) As a good mate of mine is fond of saying, if you dont like the prices, dont take the holiday.

Sounds more like Broome is a place to bypass.

"tanks" here -- Bring the PopeMobile over the border to Queensland mate I have found plenty of Recreation Areas [read Free Camping] and all that I have used are good; some with most facilities, others with just the basics.
I have an onboard hot and cold shower and my own toilet and water, so all I want is a place to park and a bit of room to extend the awning for extra shade, and a few trees for "Russell" to mark.
Keith.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.
