Well, we are now in Tenterfield. Staying in Craig's CP, as the show grounds are the same price.

Greg picked me up from Casino railway station, after I flew in from Phuket ....teeth all done!

But ....Greg had a very sore and swollen leg from the ankle up, ....apparently a couple of days before I got back the dog we were sitting wrapped his chain around gregs leg and pulled him over. He got a tiny weeny cut on his leg.

By Monday his leg was in a real bad way. Gregs seen some wounds caused by bullets nd shrapnel, and he recognised the colour. He was also chilly, not hungry, and felt woozy. So finally after a day of me saying he should see a doctor, he saw a doctor! Doc said pack pyjamas, be at the hospital in two hours, I'm admitting you. Cellulitis. Serious if ignored. Greg was even saying if he had to lose a leg at least it was his left leg so he could still drive! :!:

He's been on three antibiotics on an IV for two days. He's now out of hospital, but I am still concerned as his leg still looks nasty to me. He has to take two different A/Bs orally 4 times a day, so he's not out of the woods yet.

The country hospital is really good, everyone was nice, but it made me realise that in a situation like this I ......on my own....would not be able to hitch up...mainly because of my hand injury. So we are going to have to work something out!

It's a lovely area, we drove here on the Bruxner Highway, which with our rig was hard work, and of course Greg wasn't feeling well but he hadn't told me that bit!

We plan to stay in Tenterfield for a couple of days before going to Inglewood to spend a week with friends. I am hoping we can do a couple of 4WDrives in the area.

So, that's the latest! And thanks Dot for helping to keep me sane
Cheers
Dee

He'll be back to his usual silly self in a couple of weeks, tops. as long as he keeps taking his AB's right to the end of them. As far as keeping you sane   that is "mission impossible"

I had a fishing incident about 5 years ago, in Kalbarri, where I fell on some rocks & skinned my right leg just below the knee, no great dramas & kept on fishing - but still didn't catch any.

Few days later the leg blew up & changed colour... so, belatedly, went to the local GP who cleaned & dressed it - nothing else.

A week later & we had moved on - to Geraldton - but the leg was no better so went to the local hospital. Fantastic crew there did all sorts of tests & scans & confirmed it was cellulites & gave me oral meds to take which seemed to do the trick.

When we returned home I attended my GP said that when we took off again to see him prior & he would give me a prescription to take with me in case it flared up again.

Haven't used it yet.

Wow, Chuck, could have ended far worse than that!

We've decided that as we travel way into the bush we should carry more antibiotic. We have all sorts of first aid gear and both updated our First Aid Certificates, but this type of thing....if we'd been miles away from help we might not be smiling!

Is it true it's likely to flare up again?

Cheers

Nothing would take on Chuck not even cellulitis  Dee as long as you / Greg take care with washing hands and bed linen and he takes ALL of his AB's getting it again from the original site is not a given. Cover the open area with clean gauze it can be passed to others (you) via bed linen IF you have an open cut scratch and his pus stuff gets to you.. It is a bacterial infection so care needs to be taken Wash hands wash hands and wash hands. Anything can start it off that breaks the skin, even scratching a mozzie bite. Hope he has to go and see the Dr for a follow up before you tick off too far. Keep his leg elevated. :) :D
