Time to have a grizzle!
IS TELSTRA IS MORALLY BANKRUPT and arguably UN-AUSTRALIAN ?
WHY ?
Because of their UNBRIDALLED GREED and never ending LUST FOR POWER they have FORCED over 100,000 Australians to leave their choice of mobile phone and Internet provider.
HOW ?
By denying Kogan Mobile subscribers access to their network. Early this year Kogan Mobile established an unlimited calls, SMS, and 6 GB of Internet mobile plan utilising the 3 g network for $29 per month.
Telstra and to a lesser extent Optus quickly lost over 100,000 disgruntled customers/subscribers who knew that they were being RIPPED OFF and took up the far better Kogan offer.
I say ripped off because Telstra was selling access to its 3 G network to a company called oneISP, who then on-sold this to Kogan, all three companies were making a profit and the 100,000+ Kogan subscribers were also saving a considerable amount on their mobile phone/Internet plans.
BUT !
As usual and true to type, Telstra wanted even more EXCESSIVE PROFIT and also a total PRICE MONOPALLY, so it arbitrarilly cancelled its contract with oneISP, which meant that Kogan no longer has access to a network, thus FORCING its SUBSCRIBERS back to being OVERCHARGED and RIPPED-OFF by Telstra or the others.
THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH whatever happened to A FAIR GO for all, this is nothing more than EXTORTION at its most basic level.
YES I was/am a Kogan customer and whilst they will refund any un-used credit, I'm not happy that I have been DENIED my right to choose my mobile provider.
Telstra in my opinion are quite simply, unprincipled GREEDY BASTARDS!

Class action to the relevant onbudsman and a very loud scream at the lead up to an election that the Govt must bring Telstra to heal. Election time is the time to get action from pollies.

Careful you don't bust a Fuffer Valve there. I think you will find ISPone was selling access to Telstra 3G and the ISPone company has now gone into administration. https://www.ispone.com.au/ I also believe many of the Kogan mob are now getting access to a portion of the Telstra network through Aldi. Telstra simply maintains infrastructure and is forced to sell access to its network for ridiculous prices so Optus and the like can make a profit out of the network that all Australians used to own. If you want to get narky at anyone, get angry about the government that sold Telstra to the detriment of all Australians.ozfueler wrote:Telstra was selling access to its 3 G network to a company called oneISP, who then on-sold this to Kogan,...
I also see that Boost is selling access to Telstra 4G at better prices than Kogan was offering and with better coverage.

I believe that enabling Telstra to sell sections of their network to interested (money grubbing) parties is why Telstra is so expensive, they by decree are forced into covering all of the country (in a time frame) and not just cover the profitable highly populated areas of the east coast! If all suppliers were forced into supplying the same service then we would be able to truly compare services like with like!Izabarack wrote:Careful you don't bust a Fuffer Valve there. I found whilst working, and more strongly re-enforced now that we are traveling, that there is really only one telco and that is the one that covers most of the country, and the rest exist only from the fact that the Govt, in their wisdom, insisted that Telstra must make the their networks and customer base (built and maintained by dint of taxpayers money) freely available to their opposition at a discounted price, so that they can unfairly compete, (in areas they want only) I have found that in most cases, where service is concerned, you get what you pay for!
Originally Telstra was compelled to supply (their biggest customer) Optus under the understanding that it was until they constructed their own network, however the competition companies quickly realized that the outback areas, that Telstra serviced, was not equitable, so they don't bother.
It was only within the last couple of years that the ombudsman forced compulsory refunds and cancellation of all contracts if the mobile supplied does not work at your home address. Surely that was only to stop the money grubbing companies that sell a product they cannot supply or service. I have tried a number of different telcos over the years and there is still only one that works consistently, yes they do have black areas but they are diminishing.
Yes, I do own Telstra shares and Yes, I do have some pride in an Australian company that is largely owned by people like me, The Mom an Dad investors, and is not owned by an overseas consortium, that I feel has been unfairly treated by the Governing body. If all Telcos were forced into supplying the same level of service then we would be back where we were, twenty or so years ago, with one telco, Telstra! The true greedy money grubbing companies would all piss off.

Re: Screwed by Telstra?
Telstra were/are forced to allow mobs like Optus and Vodaphone to use Telstra built and owned infrastructure to help those companies gain a foothold in Aust on the pretext of creating competition. Telstra are not allowed, by legislation, to sell access to the public at less than their competitors are with the result that Telstra is always behind in competition. When government privatised the whole deal, they effectively shafted Telstra by forcing them to always charge more than the competition was charging for the same access. Now that Optus, and to some extent, mobs like Vodaphone, have some infrastructure in place, Telstra is still forced to provide coverage outside the major population areas while Optus and Vodaphone, and others, cream off the high population coverage areas for reduced cost. Telstra is still trying to fight and provide competitive rates while having one hand tied behind its back by legislation. No, I have no Telstra shares or any interest in Telstra other than to be pretty angry that government sold a public company to help out private enterprise.John M wrote:I believe that enabling Telstra to sell sections of their network to interested (money grubbing) parties is why Telstra is so expensive, they by decree are forced into covering all of the country (in a time frame) and not just cover the profitable highly populated areas of the east coast!
For those who just don't know that the Kogan problem is not Telstra's doing, it seems the ISPone has been taking the money and not paying its own bills. Interesting information is here

Re: Screwed by Telstra?
Optus use Telstra towers?
Are you REALLY sure about that?
Optus were refused access to the Telstra tower in Kingston SE, SA and so they got charged excessive fees to install their transmitter on top of our water tower.
Most country towns and areas are exactly the same.
The majority of 'Telstra' towers are owned by a separate company that lease space to Telstra. Part of the agreement specifies that no other competitor uses the tower as well.
I'm NOT talking about landline arrangements.

Amaysim Unlimited.
No Lock In contract!
Love it.
dawg (who is without pecuniary interest, but was amazed to find signal in unexpected places.)
PS when Telstra is queried regarding the premium cost, they excuse it as a premium service. When I had a land line, I had trouble with their billing never getting it right!
