So come on guys, where are you??? ;)

Camping areas good or bad that you have news on. Be careful not to leave yourself open to a slander suit!!

Gin Gin freecamp, nice open space. Went to Lake Monduran first as Wikicamps said there was a beaut place by the lake, but because there's a caravan park in the area they've changed their minds and there's signs No Camping everywhere. Pity. Lovely spot. Checked out the caravan park. Very ordinary. And expensive.

So headed back to Gin Gin.

Hi, all

Currently at Lake Clarendon setting up for a fast trip to Narrabri. Not a bad site, although there was another rig here yesterday and Mrs Shonky just advised me we have neighbours 80 meters away. Hope they're quiet. The noise from the egrets, black swans, peewees, plovers, shags and wagtails can send one insane, no smart remarks thanks, and while walking Steffie this morning a giant sized budgie decided to amplify the crescendo even further by flapping it's wings irresponsibly.
FYI the site's about 1.4 acres, clean long drop dunnies, one firepit, the grass at the lake edge has NOT been trimmed adequately and you can hear the roar of traffic 3km away if you concentrate. Oh, and I can hear the Imac's hard drive when booting up the computer at night.

More later.
See you on the back roads,
shonky et al.

Stopped in a rest area called "Tookey's Creek Rest Area " Camps book 6, page 38 camp #902. Drop dunnies (pongy), rubbish bins, and plenty of flat sealed area. Went through Narrabri didn't realise how big that place was.

Save yourself shonky, this is obviousy the place that the Greens have organised for their campaign launch....run now, and avoid the stampede.

Otherwise...enjoy the serenity. :)

Hi everyone its been a couple of weeks [without signal] I don't know where I left.
I left Port Augusta for repairs in Adelaide, had dinner with Jeff Graham, talked old times [40 years since] left Adelaide on Thursday 29/8 to go to Cradock SA to meet up with the rest of the Safari [new one]. 4k out of Cradock I hit a BIG RED and busted up the front of the Ford [still driveable]. Then to Farina Ruins, Lyndhurst and up the Strzelecki Track, The oven [just repaired] fell out, two cupboard doors [just repaired fell off, the roller shutter [just repaired] fell off. Stopped at Montecolina Bore o'night had a swim in the bore. Next day drove to Innamincka [diesel $2.19 L] Bathroom door fell off, stove top fell off, Flickmixer tap came out. All parts stored for the makers. WAIT there's more, went to the DIG TREE lovely BBQ put on by Napper Marree Station. Drove out this morning 14k of rough gravel stopped at the turn off and the boss said Peter we have a problem you only have 3 wheels. LHF wheel on the 5'er had collapsed the outer bearing and the whole wheel and brake drum were missing. 40 people searched for the wheel [mag & new tyre] but could not find it. So I travelled 350K to Thagomindah south west Qld on 3 wheels. Now in c'van park waiting repairs. Did anyone see the Chinaman I killed ????

They are using the wheel you lost for his tomb stone - buried him on the very spot the wheel hit and killed him. Very appropriate, don't ya think?

Depending on speed, angle of track (up/down, left/right), phase of the moon, and a whole bunch of unpredictable variables, that tyre could be in another state of the nation. Or, more likely, on someone else's rig.

Experience is a wonderful thing. It helps you recognise a mistake when repeated.

Geesh, Peter we thought we had problems! Take care mate! Living in the caravan is a lifestyle, not a permanent holiday as some seem to think....we've had to change our plans so many times in the last two years ....those dead chinamen are really having a laugh! :!:
