Regardless of who they upset, they were endangering the public, shouldn't have been up to anyone else just the copper, charge them end of story. Let the courts sort the cretins.

Agree with all of you...but... if the copper knew the kids parents well enough, he may have been able to give the kids enough of a scare to prevent further bad behaviour, and danger to members of the public, without the need to clog up the local courthouse for another waste of time do gooder judge to slap the kids on the wrists and send them back to their mummies. just MHO, for what its worth.

I agree Deborah, the coppers aren't allowed to do the kick up the arse thing any more but if the parents are known to be strict and old skool I think the copper scare and then the parents do the punishment was a smart choice, along with the loss of privilege, must park outside and walk in to the cricket grounds would be a reminder to all the other local kids, any silly crap will not be tolerated.
Doing the circle work in the showground car park while there were motorhomes parked there? It could have been a scare tactic protest at outsiders using their privileged turf, not just a stupid, mindless act. Even though it was stupid and some what dangerous, in their minds they may have considered they were in the right. Dumb, yes, warranted a criminal history for life, over the top, there are always two sides to any story.

Re: EerWeGoAgen Departs Sept 1st 2013
Two different scenarios in our town over quite a few years.
A local policeman with a "holier than thou" attitude clamped down on almost everyone in town but especially hard on the younger ones. One young chap took exception to the over harsh treatment (loss of license & car clamped) and over 2 weekends laid over almost every street sign and whitepost within the town area & it cost the local council thousands of $$$$$ to repair. The kid got a good behaviour bond.
A new policeman in town caught a young chap doing doughnuts in the cemetery on the lawns. The policeman put him in handcuffs & gave him a dressing down then delivered him to his father & told him what had happened. No charges were laid. That lad is now a policeman and admits all young people get a bit boisterous at times.
I don't know what the answer is.

No excuses what so ever for doing what they did, it is a public place and young children were around, 2 of my grandkids and the idiots are very lucky they weren't caught by the fellas and me then there would have been charges.speed limit clearly stated 10kph, the cricket ground nets is over the other side with it's own entrance. Always two side to every story yes but tell that to the kids parents that these morons might have killed. This ground sees money going to their facilities as well. Plus there were horses on the trotting track and those twats were also going to have a spin around that as well till they were blocked. Then one of them was doing well over the 150k on the freeway when the caretaker was getting the rego #. Big motors and small minds in boys does not mix, do the NZ thing cc size for the age and time a person has their licence.

I would dearly love to see the motor size restricted by the mental capacity and experience ( or lack thereof). Some dumwits like the ones you experienced obviously would never even qualify for a small motor scooter!

Re: EerWeGoAgen Departs Sept 1st 2013
There is a motor capacity in force or is supposed to be but as far as know it only relates to capacity not the add on stuff that makes small motors fire breathers. Then there seems to be some exceptions handed out to particular individuals on the Gold Coast. Why this particular person was given an exemption is unknown. Bikes have a capacity restriction to 250cc from memory and that certainly has stopped a lot of accidents. I really don't think things will change with restrictions its a mind set thing, totally blank heads.
