Calliope

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Hi Norman! I thought you must have dropped off the planet!
While you're in the vicinity make sure you check out the view from a few lookouts around there........ or more to the point around Gladstone.
There's a lookout up above (near) the power station.
There's a lovely lunch spot & lookout on the end of the main street in Gladstone that over looks the port/harbour.
There's another one if you start going into the aluminium smelter. (on the way towards Tannum Sands)
I'll come back here with GPS co-ords shortly.

James Cook Park (end of main st) -23.834894,151.253579 Auckland St.
Can't find the one near power station.
-23.871946,151.286598 Over looking smelter. Turn off Harbour Rd.

Gary, the Longyard, is no longer in Calliope - they are on the road full time now, have been for a couple of years now.

Norman, check at the Visitors centre, but the Gladstone Port Authority put on a free river cruise including morning tea. Definitely worth it, commentary of the whole harbour.
