If the pre purchase inspection goes ok, there is some chance I will be the owner of a new project. It seems that a knowlege of electrickery is required to retain sanity while owning a motorhome, especially a converted bus, so I have been looking online for some tips. I found this link which has been very helpful in trying to understand the jargon. No doubt all of the readers of this forum are experts but just in case there is someone who is wearing thier electrical L plates like me, they might find this of interest.http://www.autoshop101.com/

Love your sense of humour Bill. There is great book 'Fundamental electrical troubleshooting' by Dan Sullivan that helps explain electrickery stuff in a language that is a bit easier to follow so you can use it as a language translator for when the arm chair electrickers start with the big words. there is a web address on the cover http://www.esitest.comthat might help to track it down as well.

Did I mention"if the pre purchase inspection goes ok"????? roughly 5k worth of repairs on a 11k bus!! its extremely difficult to determine value for money on the second hand mkt, so many variables and it seems that the bus is often the cheapest part of the equation. Doesn't need a lot, king pins , rear brakes, couple of oil leaks but soon adds up. here is the ended item on ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MOTORHOME-BE ... 46156a941f. I am looking for a project to build up over a period of time, camping in the bus initially, building it into something more sophistiocated over time. Wheelchair access is essential hence this particular old bedford. I understand that this type of rig will not be cheap to run or maintain, I guess that the trade off for a lower capital cost.

....anyone had experience with these old jiggers or have any thoughts or comments on value? (cost!)

legal with that motor and transmission at a total of $16,000 it's a steal if the buss drives ok and the wheel chair lifter works the way you need it too.
Unfortunately the guy down in Vic that had all the cheap Bedford bus parts has shut up shop I think...... can't remember his name, Dawson or Dawes or something like that....
Jon D has an early Bedford so he would be someone who may have contacts for parts.

Looks good Bill!
I got rounded up yesterday by an old Bedford like I was standing still. (at 86km/hr)
Got him on the radio........ had a balanced and polished port etc etc 350 V8 in it. Was around a 8metre bus.
Dot, Bernie's next door neighbour has a wheel chair lift for sale but from my reading Bill's ad it appears the original lift comes with it.
If it does then it should fit back on with minor effort.
Don't hesitate to ask questions Bill.......... we aren't backwards at coming forwards if you know what I mean!!!
