Well we have finally got away on our big trip around the block, we set of towing a Suzuki with a Kayak on the roof behind the M/H, we have been on the road for six weeks and have managed to get from Newcastle to Moruya in that time, we did have a diversion that took in Bylong, Sofala, Carcor, then to Temora for a fly days of World War Two planes from the Pacific theatre held at the Temora airport, we travelled to Temora with members of the CMCA Lake Macquarie Ramblers who made us welcome, we left them at Temora then we travelled to Griffiths to locate a family grave, from there we found a camp on the Murrumbidgee River which was pleasant and free, after a few days there we went to Canberra to visit my sister, We stayed at Queanbeyan in a CP which charged an outrageous $47.00 per night( it was the only place we found with vacancies for the time we were in town, the place was a dump and a ripoff) anyway from there we made our way down to the coast to Batemans bay, using our camps book we found the Primitive Camp ground at South Head, Moruya $11.00 per night for pensioners, all good, and we have been here for 10 days and will stay another week.
The only date in our calendar is the 9th of December when we will catch the boat to Tasmania, we intend to stay there for at least 4 months, from there our plan is to do a figure eight around the mainland, From Melbourne we will go across to Port Augusta following the coast, then north to the NT for the winter and end up in South Western Australia the following Summer, then back to Port Augusta up to three ways across to Cairns then down the coast back to Newcastle, of course we will fill in a lot of the dots on the map while on our travels,we are up for any info on any good spots on the south coast of NSW to Melbourne, free or otherwise that have good access to salt water (mad fisherman) we are in no real rush and intend to take up to 2 years to do our lap, lots to see and do, having the Zuk will be a big bonus allowing us to explore each region we stay in.
Cheers
Chris

OK.... big carp rolling around in campfire ashes.
Second picture is a close up section showing the 3/4" meat ants busily chopping up the fish & carting the bits back home.

Re: Chris & Glennis around the block 2013 - 2014
you just need to know how to prepare them and cook them. You need to spew them first, like prawns, if you caught them in fresh water then spew then in salt water or vicaversa. Change the water daily till it remains clear for 24 hrs, could take up to a week, this helps to burn off the fat layer the build up under the skin. If you don't do this part they taste like mud.Q Aren't carp any good to eat at all??
From there you can either run them through the mincer and make fish cakes, cut them into steaks like salmon and big game fish, or fillet them. Watch for small bones, they take well to a lot of seasoning and frying in butter in a very hot pan.
