Does anyone know if a reasonably weather proof HDMI socket is available. The reason I ask is now we have sat TV I would like to replace the aerial socket on the near side of the van. I have already moused in the internal output. I have tried a lot of places, Jaycar, Middies etc. Girl at Middies came up with using a low profile weather proof cover. I can bet London to a brick if I go that way the part I need will somehow appear on the market within weeks.

Re: HDMI
You don't need HDMI until AFTER the VAST set top box which should be inside your van/bus/MH.
Depending on your setup you really only need an "F" connector on the side of your outfit.
For example...
I have an external TV antenna as well as the VAST extension that goes to the sat dish.
Depending on what I wish to use I connect the wire that runs from the inside of that connector directly to the TV (for TV) or directly to the VAST set top box (for VAST) & THEN a HDMI short cable from VAST box to the HDMI in of the TV.
I have a water-proof cap that screws on the outside of the thru-body connector when not in use.
I also take it off when visiting my friends place that have bottle fed kangaroos!!!! They love to suck on it & I hate searching the yard for it afterwards!!!

Re: HDMI
Bruce that is. what I am talking about, outlet not inlet. If you use the "normal" TV connections you only get analog picture, and having tried it it ain't nice. I want to replace the outside f type outlet with an HDMI one. I do have a slimline hpm weather proof cover, but where it would go the profile of the wall would make a bugga to effectively seal on the wall. I will take some pics in the next couple of days.

Re: HDMI
Oh, OK.
So you want an outlet outside so you can use your TV out under the awning?
I reckon you'd need something like this........
http://www.sourcingmap.com/hdmi-wall-pl ... pAodolgAfQ
............ in one of those external weather proof boxes.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Double-Power ... 4897.l4276
Take out the powerpoint & replace it with the above one. Sikaflex or gutter silicon all around for a good seal.
Am I on the right track?

Re: HDMI
Thanks for the links. I have got one of those weather proof covers, the slimline one it is only 20mm deep. Looks like the dreaded Sikaflex is coming out of storage.

Re: HDMI
After a trip to Jaycar I got what was described as a two-way splitter. I di ask for one that would take one input and two out puts. Description on packet was vague. When I opened it I found it was two in and one out. So I have ordered a passive splitter that is one in two out. It does not guarantee 1080p if both used at once but that won't happen as we will just use one connection at a time. Will keep posted as to results.

Re: HDMI
Sort of done, still can't find a passive splitter. But got cabling in and point on outside. I ended up using a clipsal low profile weather proof cover. Behind inside I use a stud bracket with the lip cut off to give it a good bracing surface all with a big dollop of sikaflex to seal it. All works ok. now to find a splitter that does not need a 240v adapter.
I have cleaned it up since taking piccy.

Good job!
You can get a 90 degree bend on the end of a cable that might lessen the chances of an accidental bump & causing grief.

Re: HDMI
Had a look at those the wall is to thick to run it in. The cable at the back you cannot see the plug. I used one on the inside connection as the wall is only 5 ply.Looks like I will have to get a powered splitter, bit of a bugger will have to get one that runs on 12v or a phone type charger with a round plug as all the ones I have seen are 5v.
