T1, I hope that is the end of all the s**t that you have endured. Maybe now you and Margaret can have a peaceful and enjoyable Christmas. Onward and upward then.
Cheers

Re: A shot in the neck
Hopefully it's the end of the headaches for a while anyway, still got the left knee and back to fix, and the real pain, NRMA to stop mucking around.
The fact it's taken 9 yrs to get to this stage even had the specialist shaking his head today. I think the insurance mob for workcover only approved this lot of exploritory work by my rehab specialist because they thought the case would be settled before it actually got to this stage and thought it would be all sorted before todays clinic so they delayed approval till the last moment trying to avoid yet another expense, but they got stuffed up and trapped into a corner when the case was again posponed till Feb next yr. I'll mark that one up on the board as a win

Re: A shot in the neck
Still have the lump, but the neck isn't as sore today. Only a slight headache at the moment so that's a great improvement. I guess I'll still get some headaches till they sort the right side out but any relief is a major win as far as I see it.
I have a few jobs I need to do on the Mazda today so that will be the real test. If I can lean my head forward or look up at stuff from underneith with it developing into a thumper headache I will be a very happy chappy

Weren't you told to take it slowly for a couple of days to let things settle a bit?

Re: A shot in the neck
Exactly the opposite, keep the muscles active and moving to stop them spasming and tightening up. It's a bit like the best treatment for a back injury, it was complete bed rest, now they say that's the worst thing you could do for a back injury, who's right and who's wrong? Remember when you put a hot pack on a sprain injury, then it was an ice pack to keep the swelling down and that's what you see with the football injuries, ice packs strapped on to the injured area..... now the thinking is they are both wrong, the ice does stop the swelling but it also slows and shortens the repair period so the damaged area new fully recovers, so they are back to hot packs but with the added thing of manipulation to keep the damaged area flexible and keep the blood moving through the area to enable a full repair, not a quick patch up job.Dot wrote:Weren't you told to take it slowly for a couple of days to let things settle a bit?
When I broke the bone in my hand and tore the ligaments they pinned it and put it in a cast, 12 yrs later and I still don’t have full use of the hand and I can’t fully straighten the last 2 fingers, the damaged ligaments tightened and will not stretch any more

Re: A shot in the neck
I didn't mean stop doing everything I meant take things slowly for a couple of days .movement yes but overdoing things while the drugs are working is not suggested. Ice packs are still the right way to go but not for extended periods of time 10 mins at a time. Back injuries hmm depends on the injury doesn't it. Never was complete bed rest but sitting is the biggest no no for more than 20 mins at a time. Walking is still considered the best thing to do. People tend to go full throttle because they feel good but when the locals and steroids start to wear off they soon realise they should have gone a bit slower. Locals and steroids (anti inflammatory) can last from hrs weeks to mths, depending on what type was used.

Re: A shot in the neck
More shots in the neck tomorrow, right side this time. Had some a few weeks back, made the back of my head numb and my vision went screwie, 2 of everything
Trying a bit lower down this time. the left side headaches are starting to return, they did warn me I might not get 12 mths out of it, but it's not as bad as they have been yet so I'll live with them a while longer.

Re: A shot in the neck
A bit of a shock this visit, it wasn't for more exploratory testing with temporary pain blocks, but more nerve burning, this time on the other side. I was the first to have a new method of application tried by my specialist, how wonderful, I think they used a post hole digger to make the holes this time... but I got some you beaut pain killers this time, except I can only have them every 3 hrs and they have worn off in under an hr
