So what are the things you do look for then? I have no idea of what half of the descriptions they say these things do. I just want one that you turn on while travelling and IF something happens then it is there recorded. :D

What I deem imperative is the ability to read number plates at 30m. I prefer not to travel at night, but also use the units in the passenger car where night time use is more frequent. I believe this will put the price threshold somewhere in the vicinity of $500. If this seems excessive, then my feeling is, why bother? Remember, "IF" somethings happens, you will want the best visual image for support and I cover my butt both front and rear - two units. The rear unit is just as important as the front when those impatient large commercial vehicles are trying to hurry you up.

I will be looking at the GoPro range next, but only if they deliver the goods as above.

Did not come with a micro SD Card, you can get cheaper ones on the Net I ended up getting a Class 10 ( Fast record?) 32GB from Office works for from memory at around $39.

Unit seems to work OK have yet to review video.

Unit could be a liability if you are in an accident and you are at fault, but........... that will never happen..

I bought a "Navig[8]r" at the Post Office for $79.99.
Works OK, night vision with IR LEDS, bought a Class 5 Micro-SD 32GB for it for $29.99 @ K-Mart.
Supposedly only speaks Windoze, but Mac's Image Capture s/w works OK.
Thinking about getting another one for the rear view...
Even Girt (rolling weight - incl toad on trailer - about 10t) gets nervous when the big Kenny drivers come sniffing up her bum!
