TV & Tuners??

Post by Dot »

Contacted the Saturn Omni antenna people as we have some difficulty getting a picture in some situations and yet others around us get a pic? Some times we have to go through the tuning ritual a couple of times. The man said the tv we have (Dick Smith) and others on the market have crappy tuners in them?? As expected he suggested the type he sells i.e. Firefly which are good for tuning. but are from $340-$450 of course  (can't find them on the web) . Has anyone else got a Dick Smith TV or a Saturn Omni?? Thoughts please.

Starting to believe 'the man' Dot.
I got that fed up with the popping & banging with some stations on my smallish digital TV that I tested it running a HD set top box & then through the AV cables to the TV. Never had a problem since.
Only trouble is that now the boss lady doesn't like the extra 240V cable & the tangle of cables. .... but we CAN see the tennis or cricket!!!
Do you have a set top box to try?

Sheesh, can't teach children anything these days, they still keep buying the Saturn Miraculous TV antenna, those of us who have had one forced on us can't give the bloody things away.

There is no such thing as an omni all purpose, all area Horizontal/ Vertical TV antenna. In reality a bent coat hanger with a mast head amplifier will give most people a good signal in a lot of areas.

What sort of antenna do you need, one for each district you visit (just look at what the locals are using on their houses). The mast head amplifier is the most important feature of all antenna, then go and buy a satellite dish and VAST set top box and stop foofing around. A lot of people have had good success with the Jaycar/DSE caravan antenna ($70 with Mast head amplifier $90)

Have fun with your miraculous Saturn antenna, mine is gathering dust, free for the asking, collect only, I will not post it because I refuse to allow anybody to waste their money.

You would have been better off buying an iPhone, at least it has an app to show you where to point your normal TV antenna.
