Bruce, we have one of those timers for the irrigation system around the deck area but there is no tap close enough to the front door to do it unfortunately. Will go with the plastic bottle option and cross fingers.

Well, we had a great 5 nights away at Boonah with the Kedron group. Got home at 10.30 this morning to find the gardenias thriving.:D Added some pretty petunias purchased at the Saturday market in Boonah and voila....Image

Thanks for the help everyone. Someone else suggested putting wet newspaper over the soil which I did as well.
