Back on line...

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Back on line...

Post by pelbo »

I have not posted for a while, waiting until I got my court hearing out of the way against my van manufacturer.

We had the mediation hearing before Christmas. I had to sign a confidentiality agreement over the terms of the satisfactory settlement, including any items raised at the hearing. I will stand by my side of the agreement. Please do not speculate or send me a PM to discuss the terms etc., as I will not respond.

So we are once again getting on with our lives after 12 months of ridicules and time wasting battle with the manufacturer.

We got the van repaired by a reputable caravan repairer and it is now safe to travel. To this end, we are now in day two of our second trip around oz.

I will make a post in the other thread about this magic little spot we found via Wikicamps at Jamberoo.

By the way, if you have not downloaded the program Wikicamps for your android or ipad phone / notepad, have a look. It has some 11,500 camp sites around Oz, complete with maps, comments and photos on many of the sites. Once you find the site you want to go to, if you have built in GPS in your unit, it will guide you right to the spot.

The other handy feature is that it also has a satellite finder for satellite TV.

How does that part work Paul? Do you take the tablet out to the satellite and put it in the middle of the dish or???? Can it do the mobile phone/internet towers so a Yagi aerial can be adjusted to find it? We have wiki camps on the Aldi tablet and it works great for guiding you to the spot, Margaret sits with it in her lap and guides me, beats the witch in the GPS hand down, you can use Google maps and look for a spot in satellite view, lock on it, then it guides you there, so non formed camps are possible as well, real bush camping, well, glamping really when you have good solar and Li batteries ;)

So glad to hear you had a successful outcome with your mediation hearing, Pelbo, but it is disgusting what you and your wife were put through. The fact that you had a satisfactory result speaks volumes to those of us familiar with your van manufacturer. May you now get on with enjoying your travels and making the most of those Lithium batteries.
Cheers

No! It has a GPS function that has the satellite location data installed - as long as wikicamps knows your precise location, it can point you in the right direction...

Had our local digger guy in to do some work this week.
He took a few days off to meet a group of friends and vanners over Xmas at Mujerryba I think it is.
Bought a brand new 50k van 3 months ago, this was first run.
Didn't get to Kingaroy and the drawbar bent, first up smashing the fg front piece, then bending down so van was dragging arse on ground.
Spoke to factory after they started work again on 20/1 didn't seem that concerned," happened to a couple of others, might have to think about a recall "
The drawbar is a light C channel material, no wonder it bent.
This was on a good, surfaced road, what would happen on dirt ?
Sheesh, glad I am not a vanner !
