I think it's all in the terminology.
Is it a 'freezer' or a 'deep freezer' ??
I really think that most of these units built for RV use are not really intended to be used for long term storage of frozen goods as in "deep frozen storage".
If mine can get to -10 & hold it I'll be happy.
Any colder & my icecream will bend my spoon!!!

I think you have done well....Smile...

Nearly 12mths on so how is your unit doing now Craig? We NEARLY got burnt,,,,, Aussie Batteries & Solar (advertising on p107 of "that Magazine" are flogging fridge /freezers (Giant brand) said to have the Danfoss compressor so we thought it would be a goer, rang up gave credit card details and a M8 was going to deliver it to us then we get an email from the person that told us about them saying that he had found out these things are chinese copies so hope we haven't bought one!.  Panic,, rang the business and asked to cancel the order = ok Phew SO back to the hunt again.

It has been great. Quiet, low power use and it has handled 42 - 43 degree heat with ease. The one thing that I didn't like initially was when the high top lid is used, it barely freezes the meat on top. It is not a real problem because you are taking meat out every day and with vac sealed bags the food would last for weeks unfrozen. I found that as soon as the level inside was low enough I would fit the flat lid and all would work perfect. I would buy another if I had to.

Thanks Craig, that is all good news. Always good to hear how these things are going after a good workout. Going to have a look at them tomorrow, hope they have a couple of sizes to check out.

Go back to the op and have a look at the link I put up back then. It is only one fridge and is fitted with a collar and high lid to change the size as required.

CAPACITY: Low-lid 35 litres, High-lid 42 litres, Low-lid and collar 45 litres & 52 litres when using the extension collar and High Lid

They only sell the one fridge like this. It comes with all the different combinations to set it up. ie ext collar, high lid and low lid. You change it as required. it only takes a second to swap the lid and collar. They do also sell a 3 way chest freezer, but I didn't wont to go down that track.
