Rumble from The Concrete Jungle

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Better than the sound when the Bathurst Council succumbed to the Lure of the $$$ and bumped the V8s from the NSW Bank Holiday w/e to run the Euro Touring Cars in the 80s... They sounded like sewing machines with hernias!
Tickets for the first year were "Satisfying for a new event"; 2nd year "Down somewhat and disappointing"...
Don't know why, but with ticket sales somewhere between zero & the grass verge, they cancelled the third year. On one week's notice!
And still the V8s have not returned to the long w/e. WHY? It would mean more people from afar could attend & return home in time for work on the Tuesday.

Actually not enjoying the V8's these days, but I still watch the races. The racing overseas was a dismal failure especially in the middle east and that lost a lot of fans. They really need to run a lot more races than they are these days, the gaps are just to great and I am watching NASCAR more and more.

But Dirk,
NASCARs can only turn left!

At least the V8s can turn in both directions... and frequently do!
As well as corkscrews and biff-the-walls... just like NASCARs

Ray,

I can see the V8's becoming more NASCAR style in the future if the now gone /going manufacturers start to pull back sponsorship.

More interested in drag racing these days, it's all on the line, every run and only 1 survives for the next race. No second chances, if you stuff up a run, too bad, come back next time with your game face on and have your in the very best trim you can build. Only the top line stuff is heads up and first across the line, the other classes require consistency, down to the thousandths of a second. A winner and a looser every race and even the slowest has a result within 12 secs of the start.... and none of them sound like they are asthmatics
Add to that, top fuel is energy you can feel, right through to the soles of your feet, true ground shaking performance, the only real rules are the minimum percentage of nitro methane in the fuel, you can use what ever engine you want. Everyone goes to watch the spectacle, the tyre burning, the flames from the exhaust, the engine failures, no one wants to see a crash, takes too long to clear up before the next race and no one wants to see people physically injured, but they al want to see prides dented
A person may fail many times, they only become a failure when they blame someone else John Burrows
Those who struggle to become a leader, rarely know a clear direction forward for anyone but themselves
