What a day!

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

What a day!

Post by Swisslulu »

After 2 years towing our van over 40,000 Kms, we had our first flat tyre on the van! And we have been stationary since last Wednesday!

Stepped out of the van yesterday and noticed the left rear tyre was completely flat. So today was Caravan Tyre Changing 101. Man those things are heavy! But Erich got there in the end.

Then while preparing lunch, I dropped a very sharp knife which went straight into the top of my foot. Blood everywhere!

I am hoping that the attack of the midgies is our 3rd mishap.

They don't touch Erich but I break out in massive welts. This is the first time we have encountered them here so they caught me unprepared. Not a happy camper!
Cheers

"tanks" here --
When we were building the Gladstone Alumina Refinery years and years ago we had a lot of problems with midges. We found that drinking Bundaberg Rum we didn't have a midge problem. Perhaps a chemica; reaction made us smell when we were sweating !
The only problem was you had to drink the full bottle of rum; and then you didn't feel any itching.

I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Dot, that Chinaman must have been holding the screw that we found in the tyre! Keith, sadly I don't like rum!

Cheers Ros.

Thanks, Shirley, I'll look out for it. Ironic that I never had a midge bite in all my years in Switzerland. Ros, I wish I could say a pain shared is a pain halved but in this case it's not, though I appreciate your empathy.
Cheers

Lesley, get a cheap spray bottle and put equal amounts of Dettol, eucalyptus and baby oil. Keeps the little buggas away and helps the old bites to calm down too. Soov make a very good spray for insect bites that numbs the pain, if all else fails .
Poor thing, they are an unbearable pain and don't stop hurting until you actually pop the blisters.
