Gas Bottle Swap

Post by SteveW »

Went to the local BP servo today, bought some petrol and swapped the 3.7 (that's right - 3.7kg) bottle. Paid for the lot on the card then checked the price of the gas. $29.99 !!!!!!!! Too late to walk away. Their price for the 9kg is 39.99. Won't be going back there!

Daylight robbery!!
Steve was the service station tied to a particular brand? eg Swap & Go etc?
If so I think they are supposed to stick to recommended prices as advertised on the 'companies' website.

haha... I like it!!
Looks like the website has no info on pricing so I'm guessing it's up to the resellers discretion. (or greed?)

Did a 9kg (or 8.5kg) swap t'other day with Swap'n'Go... $24.00.
And I thought that was nudging expensive! :?

Steve, I'd be hunting for the nearest BCF... they seem to be fair with refill prices. And they do refill, not just swap.
Snotty-nosed kids in servos these days don't know how to refill - even if they have the big tank on site!

The refill tank is becoming an endangered species these days...

They have to be a licenced refiller [the person not the firm] and all the OH&S stuff is not making it worth while. It's easier to go swap and fill.

And the Swap-N-Go mobs are happy to oblige, just like Westfarmers and Woolworths in creating a monopoly.

Reminds me of the super ad on TV where granddad takes grandson to a museum and they see an elderly couple in an Austin Healey sports car enjoying themselves. Kid ask, "what's that?" Gramps says, "retirement". "What did they do?", asked kid. "Anything they wanted", replied granddad.

One day owner LPG gas bottles will go the same way as museum history.

Gets a bit hard when only one of the nine "standard" sized 9kg bottles will fit through the door of our gas bottle box... with millimetres to spare!

Is it my imagination? - it seems that a supposed 4.5kg bottle lasts about a quarter of the time that a supposed 9kg bottle lasts.
