This is a lengthy posting about the STICKER HISTORY

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

This is a lengthy posting about the STICKER HISTORY

Post by Keith Morris »

"tanks" here---
This takes a bit of time to read, but here goes:-

HOW DID THIS STICKER DEAL ALL START ?
I was reading through some of the past postings on our Forum some weeks ago when “Russell” and I were sick of chasing the stray cats from the back yard an dI came across a proposal to have a FORUM STICKER produced for the Members to proudly display on their vehicles.
The postings were well over one year ago – This started me thinking that I would like to display a sticker on TANKS [my Sprinters' name] and then somebody on the road or at a camp-site may see this and come over and have a chat.
I searched the many postings of as many various designs presented by some of the members, and the many comments and suggestions that made for and against; however I could not find where any stickers were eventually made available for the Members.

“Russell” had gravitated to the Lounge Room to watch the ABC Children's Programmes, which left me in the computer room playing around learning Lesson 7 – “How to forward a message by e-Mail”.
(I had covered this in Lesson 6, but I had forgotten how to do it and I couldn't remember where I left the book).
To make a long story longer, I continued to search the Forum for any information on Stickers, and where I could buy some. Mr. Val from AMH Forum gave me a few for the “Sprinter when I visited him on the Gold Coast Qld, when I flew “Saracen” and “Russell” over from WA for a holiday, and to take delivery of the Sprinter from the seller.
(That is another story to be told – but not on this Posting--- Do you want me to go on with the Sticker story? If so just keep reading but a pause while you make a nice hot cuppa may be in order here.

I liked the idea of having a sticker on the Sprinter to identify me as belonging that Forum. It was a means of other members recognising me as being One-of-Them and creating the chance of a chat while sitting around a camp-fire. Mr.Val gave me two stickers and now others could see me coming as well as going.

Getting back to us and our Forum---I decided to ask the Admin Team if I could have a few Forum Stickers to place on the Sprinter and tI found out that we do not have any stickers---the idea never eventuated into the production of a sticker.

I took this on-board and got the medications out and after a few more pills I got to thinking “What am I going to do about this . There was obviously enough interest in the proposal many-many-many months ago !

“Russell” and I held a Committee Meeting after the ABC Children's Hour was finished, and the consensus was that WE would make one and have them made available for the Members. I made an initial posting on the Forum to ascertain if there was still any interest in having a sticker as a means of promoting the Forum and perhaps increasing the membership
list from the 400 (plus ) members that we have on the records.

I made contact with a friend of mine [ex-service 3 rd Cavalry Regiment] who is in that field of business, and asked for a quotation on producing a quantity for me. The Artwork and Copyright turned out to be a problem which absorbed considerable time and Artwork changes. I had sent a copy of an RV GROUP logo which our Chuck had posted , with changes to the wording that may be acceptable as OUR Forum sticker.

This was not to be so:, There were too many Copyright matters to consider. The end result is that T-1 Terrys' latest posting and design is now accepted by the Administrators.

All of this has only realised within the past hour , after several phone calls to the Team Leaders ! My previous post informs our members that the stickers are about to eventuate and will be readily available to proudly display on your vehicle, be it a Motorhome, or a Caravan, or any RV conveyance. You can even put one on your letter Box , and another on your Lawn Mower , to promote the OzeRVnews FORUM !
If you pull a “TOAD” , don't forget to ask for additional stickers to place on your towed vehicle or trailer.
I'm going to place one on “Russells” jacket/overcoat thing.
.
I am now awaiting an Artwork Proof to be sent to me by e-Mail, for final acceptance prior to the printing of the stickers. We are loking at a time frame of about 1 week, then a few days for cmpletion of the printing and Express Post to our fearless leader.
The initial quotation is for 200 stickers, and while I acknowledge the several recent offers posted on the Forum to share the cost of producing the stickers, please accept that ; This my gift to the many Members of this Forum who have given me good advise and assistance on the many problems I have encountered as being new to this wonderful life change.

NOW----- HOW DO YOU OBTAIN THEM WHEN THEY ARE AVAILABLE ?
Just send a self addressed --- SELF STAMPED ---Business size (10mm x 220mm) envelope to the address soon to be posted by the Administrator on the Forum.
A Business size envelope is is the same size envelope your Bank Statements arrive in.
“Tanks” thanks everybody concerned and / or involved with getting this venture off the ground and “up-and-running”.
I have included a short poem for your reading not in any way to be degrading our Administration Team/Committee, who are our tireless workers in keeping this Forum open for us to use.
I acknowledge the LEAD GROUP /Poets' Corner

Committee Poem
Oh, have some pity, I'm on a committee
Which means that from morning till night,
We attend and amend and contend and defend
Without a conclusion in sight.
We confer and concur, we defer and demur,
And re-iterate all of our thoughts,
We revise the agenda with frequent addenda,
And consider a load of reports.
We compose and propose, we suppose and oppose,
And the points of procedure are fun,
But though various notions are brought up as motions,
There's terribly little gets done.
We resolve and absolve, but we never dissolve,
Since it’s out of the question for us.
What a shattering pity to end our committee
Where else could we make such a fuss!

"tanks" here Dot---When I have a fall and I'm lying on the ground "Russell" tries to give me mouth-to-mouth, so please don't give him anything that will add to his bad breath.

Thankyou Keith, and Russell for helping with guidance and resuscitation as required. I'm interested in this medication you speak of that powers the step from thinking about to actually doing, I think there would be a big market for them. It’s never a lack of will power, just a lack of will do it now power that seems to be the issue, when it’s all said and done, there is always a lot more said than done

Maybe we could channel the offered funds into a modified reflective long strip bumper sticker, then the torch trip home from an extended happy hr will get you to a friendly residence, even if it’s not the one you left parked some where. Nothing worse than wandering for hrs with a full bladder, a heavy chair and no idea if you are even headed the right way. Just a thought for future adaptation and a possible costing from your friendly sticker maker.

You could join apathetic anonymous, if anyone could be bother to start up such a thing. I'm guessing it would be an on line thing as no one would be bothered with attending meetings

The reflective stickers would light up when the lithium powered LED's hit them, then you could mount solar panels.... maybe lunar panels for night use, but so the light shone on the panels, then they'd power the lights and boil the cooffee ready for when you got back from happy hr...... well, maybew power the phone charger to call for pizza... just a thought
