Hi, all.
Had the opportunity to acquire a newish Honda 2KVA genset while at Texas a few weeks ago - it was tethered by a 5mm cable, placed 4 metres from the right side of a caravan between some stumps - for security, perhaps. This was at 6am, obviously the owners had left it there overnight. Personally, if I had a bit of equipment the size and value of a Honda genny - around $1800 - the thing would be tucked away overnight. Spoke to the owners later in the day and suggested that as anyone with a hacksaw could have chopped through the handle of said item in one minute flat why didn't they pass a length of chain or cable vertically around the genny's body then padlock it to the main cable. It was still there the next night.
IMHO one should buy a $400 evilbay 2kva special - they start everytime, and as they appear cheap they're far less likely to be ripped off. And mine's locked up at night.

Re: Free generator
The whole concept of a generator is beyond me I'm afraid. For the same $1800 to buy the Honda 2.0i you could buy 200Ah of Li batteries and around 600w of solar. They require no fuel, make no noise or smell and are quite secure when fitted to the van. there is the added cost of installing them, but the generator requires servicing and fuel so after a short period the installation cost would be recovered.

Then let her, but have the motorhome in the sun for the solar panels, Mrs Shonky would soon see the advantages of joining you in the motorhome, it gets cold in the shade at night.shonky wrote:Hi, all.

Hi, all.
There has been a significant change in our power base recently. Mrs shonky is claiming the right to park the motorhome wherever she decides, and is also threatening to donate all future lamington harvests to charity. Can’t understand why she’s taking a bit of frivolity seriously. FYI the Talvor has a straight through boot and after installing a full length shelf to give more storage the crawl through space is limited. Mrs shonky was installing an angle bracket while lying in said boot when an unknown person put Steffie in said boot to amuse her. Didn’t know Steffie was having a severe attack of the farts at the time. Naturally I get blamed. Such is life.
