After working in a remote town in WA we happened upon a radio station which played all the old songs 24 hours a day and it inspired me to buy many an old forgotten favourite song from iTunes. So I thought maybe we could add them to this thread as you think of them?? They are so good to add to your traveling music.
Here's some to get us started..,.......
My Dingaling by Chuck Berry or
Emerald City by the Seekers
Too Many Do Goods by Tom T Hall
Whatever Happened to Old Fashioned Love by B J Thomas
and the best one for our lifestyle is
Alive & Well by The Gatlin Brothers
Fly too High by Janis Ian
Guilty by Barbra Streisand & Barry Gibb
Harvest by Neil Young

Nights in White Satin - Moody Blues http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjUqfRrWwcM
Whiter Shade of Pale - Poco Harem http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=St6jyEFe5WM
Nothing would be complete without a bit of Classic Floyd. One of the last concerts they did as a full group. Even at the age they are here, pure talent http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVQTKSWULu8

Yeah it would be good to get some help and input on different preferences on what and how they copy or buy songs.
Personally I have uploaded iTunes onto my iphone and buy them, it's easy enough and usually only about $1 each
Another "app" I have when I hear a great song on the radio is "SHAZAM" all you do is point your phone at the song and it'll tell you not only the name and artist but you can then buy it to upload/download (whichever it is!!!!) I recommend this app highly. I use it all the time. But would love to hear how others collect their songs.

Re: SONGS - Oldie's but goodies
Margaret gets a lot of her stuff from Triple J, just makes a note of when the tune was aired, look up the Triple J website for their play list, Google for a You Tube, clip and upload a copy of the music. Maybe later we might step up to doing the whole film clip, but at the moment we prefer to by impressed by what we hear, not the visuals that go with it.
The other method is sharing hard drive files, very slow with a fruit machine but lightening fast with a proper computer
Then I think Margaret has another program that scans for duplicates, files the tunes by artist and also a second query by title. This second method comes up with some great cover versions, Pink Floyd's cover of Knocking on Heavens Door is a rather out there version
but the All Stars cover on a reggae version of Dark Side of the Moon is well worth a listen. some of the Andy Wohol covers are definitely worth a listen as well, takes a while to open the mind to a different version from the commercially popular one, but after a while the possibilities of building a virtually unrepeated song list for a week open up.
Try this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qPhoacR6eE some of the still photography in the film clip is very good as well.
Maybe be this is more your speed, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_g4THMfo5c

How about this for an amazing cover of a very famous song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2FRyCoViaI Now, who was the vocalist at the end that burnt his voice out midway through the last part?
