Medications when travelling

I though that if you got them all at once you could not get them on your rebate card. Plus some might go out of date.

Dirk it probably depends on exactly which medication you're on.
I doubt very much if you could get a years supply of Wolfram (sp?). Wouldn't be advisable anyway.
Certain medications depend on regular blood tests, blood pressure tests or which way the wind is blowing.
Discuss it with your GP, he'll advise you.
My GP gives me new scripts each time now (5rpts) even if I don't need them. It doesn't cost me, you or the Gov if I tear up the bits of paper each time. That way they don't expire.

My Dr. is a bit delicate about scrips a month ahead on some and on others for six months he is OK. Something about a warning comes up on their screens about overdoses or over prescribed according to him.

Not on Wolfram but other heart stuff. I reckon I'll have to get onto that government site you mentioned and make contact with a local GP every so often. Seems like 6 months is the limit for supply on a 12 month script, then repeats from what others are saying. For long term I'll find another GP along the track, or go cold turkey...... just kidding .

Depends on what medication you take some medication you can not get repeat scripts & have to see a Dr if going on an extended trip.

You can get the Doctor to endorse the script I think it is "S24" and that allows the chemist to dispense multiple scripts at the one time and they still count on the NHS system to tally for the free scripts at the end of the years when you reach your limit for the safety net. There are of course some medications that for various reasons would not be suitable when using this code and either the Doctor or Chemist would let you know.

I am pretty sure it is S24.

Like Peter we get a special script from our Doc before we leave S24 this allows you to fill all your repeats at once, have been doing this for a number of years as one of my pills is very hard to get. Good luck with it all.

Thanks everyone, I'll have to go and see the Doc. and tell him what a great bloke he is and mention this "S24". I think he will be right otherwise we will swap Dr's. Easy.

Get all your medical info and medications you are currently taking on that thing you plug into your comp and where ever you go and see all your info is on that. I even got a 6mth script that had to have the authority from a higher being than the GP.. I have a good GP though, trusts me unconditionally,

Mary just signed up to the government medications recorded thing....whatever the name of it is. Now of course its now been "suggest" I do the same, of course !!!. Actually sounds like a good idea.
