lit the fuse today

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

I saw how our nursing director got shafted. He was advised by email while on holiday the week before xmas. Then all jobs he could have been slid accross to were held till 2 days after the qualifying period. Now they have him running around doing the cost cutting dirty work. Hes not the only one treated like that either.
Happy to retire and go back to base level nursing to fill in for inevitable shortages

If you are on the casual roster you can get work anywhere.
Just advise where you will be and I think the local hospitals will have work.
I have a friend that does similar.
When her husband is in Adelaide getting chemo she works in Adelaide and when they are home she gets work in the local area.
Never any lack of offers so you may earn more money after retirement but just don't get too involved and get back to 5 days a week and therefore loose the fun of retirement.

I retired a couple of years ago at 54 and my last job was working as a miner in an underground copper/gold mine as a haul truck and underground grader driver. I wanted to hand my notice into the project manager but he had gone off site during my shift, anyway I gave it to the foreman and all he could say was "Oorr Shit, I'll have to get another truckie". He knew how to get ore out of the ground but he didn't have a lot of people skills  The hardness part of retirement for me was getting over an irrational urge to be at work. I have it conquered now though 8-)

Same here, took 12 months leave to travel, resigned after six months and was asked to come back as a casual, back at work 2days later for 3 months. That was 2years ago. Since then had several different jobs but still haven't trained the body clock, after 37 years of irregular shift work, didn't need an alarm to rise at 4:30 this morning to catch plane to Perth.

Yeah, 7 am staets still! Burning off leave now, another month of that, then done, till the cash runs out. Plenty of offers of casual work, so can pick and choose

Lucky you, pick n choose to work only when absolutely necessary. Enjoy the time off and have the time of your lives.

My newest thought for the day is that while you are healthy enough to get out there and enjoy this place, don't waste any time earning money, you can go back later and do that!

We only rise now when we hear the local school bell ring. Oh what a feeling, esp on wintry cold mornings.

I agree, I choose the 'not work' option though, I don't think I would have time to go to work now, far too busy :D
