A couple of days ago I finally did the upgrade from windows 8 to 8.1.
At the time I assumed that the upgrade would include the upgrade from 8.1 to 8.1.1 but it now seems that it did not.
If it means anything to you the "system info" said I have version 6.3.9600, Build 9600 and elsewhere it says Windows 8.1.
The upgrade took 4 hours. how long is 8.1.1 likely to take?

Re: Windows 8 upgrade
On most software the 3rd lot of numbers are only very minor patches or update. I'd think *.*.1 would take seconds or minutes.
Having said that I've yet to see mention of that update??
It would happen in the usual update process where as the *.1.* update is a major one that basically replaces all operating system files.

Re: Windows 8 upgrade
I think 8.1.1 is referring to the big update which came out in April.
The download is in a number of files totaling ~400MB . A lot small than the size of 8.1
I don't remember how long the update took to install but certainly nowhere near the 8.1 marathon.

Re: Windows 8 upgrade
one more than *.zero.* I reckon? (sorry, couldn't resist!)
Makers of software release it in versions & updates to those versions.
More info here.

If you are referring to the ( * ) bits then it refers to "put anthing here"... sort of.
For instance if you looking for a lost file on your computer but don't have a clue of it's name, then you can search for *.fileExtension
Like *.doc
