Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!
Sorry Dot, but right at the moment the Bay of Islands is about three quarters of the way through a serious storm with extensive flooding, road closures, power outages and gale force winds. The so called "winterless north" might enjoy the warmest average temperatures over the winter, but they certainly get hit by a succession of violent storms every year. Good place to avoid at this time of the year, particularly by caravan or motorhome.

With luck the scenery should be better for you this time as there should be more snow around. Enjoy your travels and don't enthuse too much here or our roads and camping spots will become clogged up with other Aussies trying to follow you!
G'day Bruce,
Am enjoying everything down here mate. In Wanaka tonight, off to Queenstown tomorrow for a jet boat ride and a canyon swing. Then we'll head up to the Mt Cook village for a chopper ride to the glaciers and Mt Cook. Hope to land on a glacier and hoping even more that we can take off again.
Should arrive Wellington around mid August(ish).

Apparently the Teremakau road/rail bridge is to be replaced within the next few years. Get your photos thrills and spills now before that piece of motoring history disappears

Chris my girlfriend in Auckland reckons she is heading back home (Sth) as it is warmer down there now. I went through cyclone bola and couldn't get to work for over a week as the boats were all on the beach road. Small country big weather extremes but just beautiful everywhere you look. Enjoy it all Eddie.x
