We tried the washing machine yesterday all good, done two wash's one on every thing took 45lts and 38 min's.
The second on eco used 30lts and took 21 min's. Just needed to know the water usage.
On another note opened the bus at 7.30 this morning as I do and checked the fridge temp it was at 1.2 deg's. In the bus it was 1.4 deg's not much difference.
25 deg's in house but fire was on.

Hi,all

BernieQ - So how good is the Tracer MPPT ? Some of the solar shops state they increase solar input by 20% or more. Is this for real?

Hi Shonky, I'm not technical enough to answer you, it works that's all I need to know.
We arnt heavy use's of our battery's energy mainly just the 190 Lt 12 volt fridge and occasional TV.
We have a 2000w inverter still in its box so don't know what it will use once installed for washing machine phone recharge and also computer.
I will be installing a shunt so I can see the power draw per appliance.
I have 230amp AGM battery and with only the fridge on at this time its on float around 8/9am each morning.
I will use the solar on the bus as we do the house solar only use heavy power hungry things once there is around 1kw coming from solar
Not much help Mate sorry.

Hi, all.

BernieQ - I've also had a shunt installed. The b..... thing is useless until power draw is over 10amps. IMHO it's easier to use a multimeter to calculate each appliance's drawdown.

Maybe that 'had installed' is the problem if you didn't install it your self.
I have never had problems with shunts I like to see on amp gauge what is happening all the time not just when I put multimeter on things.

Maybe if you believed what the Tracer meter tells you, but you will need to throw you multimeter away because the 2 won't agree. If the Outback MX80 can only achieve a 10% improvement on a 1kw or better system and they cost around the $1,000 mark and are about the size of 2 x 2ltr milk cartons on top of each other, how is an Evil Bay cheapie a 1/4 the size going to produce a 20% gain?

Hi Terry, every time I put my multimeter on the battery side it reads higher then the Tracer tells me?
And I don't give two hoots which is correct it does what I want it to, keep my battery full.

As long as it's doing what you want Bernie, that's all that matters. There are a number of MPPT units that have been found wanting in regards to the accuracy of their amp meters, often greater than 10% on the optimist side if you follow my drift. One particular BZ Industries MPPT unit had an output reading of 25 amps on it's LCD screen, yet a PL20 shunt and a Uni-T clamp meter both agreed it was actually only 18 amps. The thing ended up getting so hot it melted the solder off the board connections and died. I have quite a collection of wanna - be controllers that haven't lived up to their claims and died an early death when run close to their rated output.
For the $$ spent, the Plasmatronics range of equipment is very hard to beat.
