The GG's & D,G & Miss Meow are away.

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Today was a real mongrel. the wind was rather strong if you stood outside for too long you got sand blasted. Awnings near and far were taken down as the wind was getting rather strong for the mere flimsy awnings these days. Saw dust clouds in the distance but thankfully the wind was blowing it away from us. Most of us stayed inside until just after lunch and the wind had subsided enough to go for a walk. As the "boys" nattered Wendy Catrina and I decided to head for the beach to see what had washed up. I found a hat with no head inside and a few shells of interest but by this time it was about time for happy hr so off home we headed then gathered at Ash & Wendy's bus for a few tall tales as usual and the most talked about thing, "Peoples dirty habits at dump points" There was a few drops of moisture from above but nothing followed through so it was time for us old farts to say goodnight and head to our respective rigs to think about tea and will we get any tv signal tonight? The tv Q was answered with a quick NO so it was dVD night again. Luckily we didn't have to watch another Smokey and the Bandit as Wendy had a few to select from so we opted for the good old one "The Long Long Trailer" Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz, still gets me laughing. So now it is Milo and toast time, the wind has died down a bit but it is expected to rage again in the early hrs.. I still have my cough but slightly better sores under the nose and on the lip from blowing the snozzer and generally peed off. Better be better by the 15th, just imagine snotty nose, sores on the face and a bald head, would look like a meth user from the Adelaide parklands  At least we were all still in shorts as the temp was still pleasant. Temp in the bus is 28.4 @ 9pm    Time nearly for Tanks to turn off his genny unless he has gone off to sleep, might have to go and pull his pin so to speak  Hopefully tomorrow will be kinder.

Today was slightly better than yesterday in regard to the weather but the wind kept us all pretty much bunkered down until mid afternoon. Ash & Wendy went into town to gather every ones goods and to do a bit of stuff for themselves  Our new shade awnings plus Chucks arrived today so we shall see what the weather brings tomorrow, wind or sun? Managed a couple of walks along the beach and found some interesting bits and pieces then after happy hr Catriana, Bev with Jackie and me with Mr Russell set out on our daily walk while the men sat by yapping and watching the mechanic fondle Tank's motor. Returning near on exhaustion I sat back down with a white bevy in vessel to replace fluid lost on the walk  Pretty soon it was time for the ritual of the "goodnight John boy" to echo through the sand dunes and we all retired to out respective abodes to eat drink and to dream of times when we were merry ;)  Last night we watched a dvd borrowed off Wendy, " the long long trailer" Lucille Ball & Dezi Arnaz, that silly story always makes me laugh which last night made me cough  Hope tomorrow will be a nicer day. :D

The August winds are a bit of a problem for the Landlubbers , the sailors love them.
From my memory of the place there's not much shelter from the wind , only sand dunes and a few shrubs

How many of your ''long term'' campers that know the area have wind gennies, they're a great accessory for them that go north regularly.
When we were up there last just about everyone that camped for a long period had one, as one chappie said "they work day and night so the battery is always full ''

One of them" whistling its head off and upwind to a ''certain agro'' would be the right thing I think to get your Gennie Hater to move off .

Hope your enjoying the WA sunshine and warmth, I see Strath is a good place not to be if you don't like the cold

Every time there's a heated discussion on the Caravanners forum about shackles, weight on towballs, were on tyres, straps on A frames, RCD's on MH's & caravanners etc etc........... the "officials come out in force & start booking people.
Don't take this the wrong way but I shudder every time I see comments & complaints about issues ... dirty grots, mungrel truckies etc etc
Might have helped me to decide to float on the river rather than the highways? ;) 8-)

The real joke with the "D" shackle issue is the chains they connect the van to the vehicle aren't rated nearly as high as the breaking strain of a standard D shackle, yet this is the part they decide needs to upgraded. A further inspection would show the link welded to the A frame is weakened at the weld point so either the link would snap first or the piece of the a frame would tear out. Now look at the piece of metal the D shackle connects to at the vehicle, look along the whole series of connections and which is the weakest point.... the tow bar attachment every time, yet this part is engineer approved so they can't do anything about that
