But its not unlocked Dot so you can only use Telstra... I don't.
Where as I can use the Aldi one if I was in the hunt for a phone.

We had the opposite experience where my S4 pulled in a signal and her i5 wimped out.

Be careful there, as I was told that those connections (which are only accessible by removing the rear case), are for the technicians access and may render the phone useless if used inappropriately. Also note; that there are two of them (not identified, so which one is for an antenna if any??) and you need a special (small) connection for them.

I've got an $89 Huawei smart phone on amaysim and it works everywhere others do, when I connect an antenna it picks up where other don't and it's the same with the dongle for my laptop, plug in an antenna and the recepion is great. I get 4gig for $39, all calls and sms free.

Dawg,
I have an s3 so just the one connection and just like any other phone aerial connection you need a patch lead.

Slowhand,
Unfortunately amaysim doesn't work everywhere that telstra does or I would still have it. I spent about 6 months in the gold fields in WA last year and ended up cancelling my amaysim. At least around the mining towns telstra is available.

We have just taken out a plan with telstra/bigpond for 15gb a month, 2 yr contract, 4g speeds, defaults back to 3g cost $110 month. Sounds expensive till i add up what wewere spending on prepaid, and phones. I reckon we could almost do away with the phones and run skype

Craig
That's true Craig, but optus does work in many places where telstra doesn't, my new home is one place in Tas and found over the last year or so parts of Tas, Vic and sth NSW you can get optus and not telstra. Cost, speed, connectivity and availibility is why I changed and am still on 4gig plus all calls for $39, haven't decided to go to the new one and they told me I can stay as I am for the next 3 months if I want. Don't use 4 gig as it is, since the daughter tweaked my linux system it uses much less bandwidth than when using Win and no adverts, popups or junk entering the system.

Same with the home system, it's a satelitte and they offered me NBN, but stuck with the current connection and get 8gig for $35, plus a viop phone which allows me to ring anyone for 15cents for as long as I like. It depends on what you want and are attached to, I'm prepared to change if I find a better deal, but like the fact it costs me very little to get a good service at home and on the road. When you add I'm not that much of a phone or internet user, it suits me fine. When travelling, do cheat a bit, my system tends to find private and local networks to connect to, which costs nothing and just about all decent towns have a number of wifi networks you can sneak into.

What I like is if I'm not on the road, just have a prepaid amysim phone and when on the road have the 4 gig setup.
