Lithium v what ever, or where the posts get moved to  1

Post by T1 Terry »

After looking at the possibility of the other lithium thread/s getting side tracked with disputes and counter cliam I though shifting them to a new spot might be better.
Bugga, now I need a refresher course in post shifting, it's much easier on the Nabble forum base

I think I have said this before but when I went into EV Works they told me that discharging lithium batteries fully would cause permanent damage and destroy the battery. Is this not the case?

This one is for those with Lithiums, or by extension those contemplating it
el gringo

As I said, my next batteries will be Lithium. I do believe however that the comparison is often of a badly setup AGM system vs a properly engineered Lithium system, and I was commenting on a poster that said he used electricity for cooking, washing et al, and I was saying that I do all that with AGM. I would be pleased to learn the true differences, as Terry has tried to outline. That said, I have already put nearly 200 ah into my AGMs Today and run fans, washing machine etc, so T1s figures seem to differ to my real life figures.

Craig,
If you take the battery to 0v then the chances are it will be dead, though there are those who have done it and had some cells come back.
In practice, the inverter will have stopped well before, and your lights will have gone dim etc. Most people disconnect the batteries if they are away for any length of time

Terry, this is a great post. I am really interested in setting up the bus and the house on Lithium. I have 5kw of solar on the house and 700 w on the bus, so I am thinking both would be suitable for a Lithium set up.
