Are you sure you're not overloading your inverters in some way, sounds like that. Some inverters pack it in at 14.8 volts, f your charger is running of the genny and has a crook regulator, it may be putting in to many volts and shutting down the inverters. If they still work ok at other times, that could be your problem.
Or if you are using a genny and running it into the rig 240v system, plus have inverters on, you may have done some damage to the inverters. I met a bloke on the road a year or so ago, left their inverter on when they connected to the grid in a van park and when they camped near us, it didn't work any more. Don't ask me why, wouldn't have a clue, but it could be to do with the extra current flowing round, or bad luck.
In my bus, there's a 3 way switch, 240v power can only be used in either inverter, mains, or off. The battery charger if ever needed, plugs in beside the battery box underneath the bus.

Re: 1000w inverter problems
I have a similar 3 way switch slowhand, generator mains or inverter. The charger part of the inverter only goes on genny or mains. If I forget to swich off the charger side, the rcd pops

Re: 1000w inverter problems
Next possibility, do you have any fluro lights that the inverter might be powering? The internal ballast is very hard on inverters. The only other possible I can think of is the charger is putting ripples on the batteries normally flat DC, in other words, AC wave patterns appearing on the DC and the inverter can't handle that.
hopefully they will tell you what has caused the inverters to fail, but it is more likely they will turn them on, check the fuses, and if they still don't work, just send you a replacement.
If you can find the battery charger I'd suggest you turn it off when using the inverter, to me that would appear to be the most likely cause.

the inverter isn't placed where it could get hot is it?
Or suffering vibration?

Mine are completely separate from each other, so can't be left on. Woke up this morning to find the 240v outlets over the kitchen area aren't working, everything else is and the rcd hasn't complained.dapope wrote:I have a similar 3 way switch slowhand, generator mains or inverter. Been up the east coast for a couple of days, being on your own has it's benefits, just jump in the bus and go. It's pouring here so not gong to get under the bus and check the wiring. Heading home this morning to wet here and need to check the 240v wiring, can't rely upon electricians, they always stuff things up,
