Re: Saturn Antenna
whats a set top box going to do for you if you already have a TV that tunes in digital channels?? If you are serious about getting TV whilst away then you'll need to invest in a satellite system.

Re: Saturn Antenna
Craig it's probably my fault.
Some time ago Dot & George were having trouble getting digital TV at there home in Strathalbyn.
Strath is (or should be) in a good reception area.
After having everything checked or replaced the signal was still breaking up.
I had similar experience here in Kingston but only on a Conia TV and mostly on Ch 10's 3 channels.
As soon as I put a digital set top box between the antenna and the TV (on AV input) I had no more trouble.
It cost me $42.
I think Dot is referring to my set up.
For fun I removed the set top box last night and couldn't watch the Ch 10 (5) T20 Big Bash. Put it back & had no trouble.
I also have a Vivid 15" TV from Aldi and it has no problem.
I seriously suspect a faulty tuner??

Re: Saturn Antenna
Bruce the tree was only as high as the bus, but it was the reason we moved. Have done the same as George and manually turned it but that requires climbing on the roof with a spanner and again before moving as the antenna automatically goes down when I turn on the key.BruceS wrote:Craig I think the "pull out a tree" comment indicated he shifted from behind a tree. Might not have been much to do with the 90 degree bit.
I've found my old broomstick one is sometimes better than someone alongside me with some much more expensive gadgetry one.
Doesn't look so good though!!
I have seen where a lady in a Jayco Motorhome with no reception with a Winegard moved from one caravan site to the next and had full reception, so maybe moving the bus put us in a different line of site.
This is the reply that I received to my email.
"Good Morning Geoff,
I had a look at Moonta Bay's reception and it does say its Variable Coverage in that area. So yes by moving the van it can help, especially if there are trees & buildings around.
If you have any more questions please give us a call/email."
Regards Geoff

Re: Saturn Antenna
Might have been a TIC bout the set top box Bruce BUT it actually has STOPPED the pixel things so now we can watch tv might not be the best antenna for reception but the set top things works. And this is in our back yard. About to head off towards melb so will give it a work out along the way. And Craig the super sats were not much better than our crummy set up at 40 mile beach and that is a fact. No matter what you have you are never going to have 100% satisfaction with anything or anyone

Re: Saturn Antenna
I have not had a problem getting reception anywhere in OZ from the sat. Granted it did take a little more time to get it in Esperence (about 30 min) but I did get it. What size was the sat dish that you used at 40 mile beach? The smaller dishes tend to have problems in some locations.

Re: Saturn Antenna
Craig we don't have a sat dish but Bob n Bev and Chuck have and they had probs and I reckon if you asked either of those 'boys" they would say they have bloody big ens
I just need the tv every once in a while to get the news then sometimes it isn't worth knowing about. Can always watch a video if the other half isn't too interesting
Bernie you are just another male (I think)
So are you 100% satisfaction guaranteed
