Crayfish pricing

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Crayfish pricing

Post by Jon and Kay »

I arrived in Kingston SE, ran here to avoid a couple of days over 40 degrees in W Victoria.
As usual, I hit the local fish shop , and was told crays are $106/kg, average size is 1kg. Last year at the same venue they were $80/kg...that's a 33% increase.

I thought we might as well go to the restaurant for that price..so went to the corner Motel/restaurant where 'seasonal prices' turned out to be 'whatever we pay for them across the road, plus $30 per plate'. That would make it $166 for two 1/2 serves of crayfish and salad. Think we might have to go and check out the co-op in Robe as these prices are getting ridiculous.

I noticed that over Christmas the major supermarkets sold Western Australian (Geraldton) warm water crays for $45/kg...which is more that Geralton crays are worth. IGA was selling Californian Rock Lobster for $25 each (about $33 per kg).

Do you have any local knowledge Bruce??

36 degrees in Kingston SE Tomorrow, then 29....Cool 8-)

Bruce just arrived, departed , returned....I can only recommend that everybody should visit Kingston SE. Hospitality is No.1, and it's not IF Bruce will help you, just a matter of how he will help you.

He did say I gave him a hard time on this Forum.....Gee Dot, I thought you did that :D
