I renewed my Vast service at the end of November, so was surprised when I turned it on Today that it displayed the message that my subscription was due for renewal.
I logged onto the site, renewed again, was told that it could take 48 hours, but within five minutes the TV was working.
The Vast system has proven to be very reliable.

Re: Vast renewal
No idea why we have to renew every six months. Can't see the reason for that other than keep some public servants in a job.

Re: Vast renewal
I have a permanent VAST connection and if I haven't had it on for a few weeks I get the same message. I just leave it on and a few minutes later it comes on

That's great Bob, If you have a phone signal then you will have internet to watch it
. This state thing is more about local news and time zone. Also local commercials has a bit to play with it.

Craig, Its all about control at what they want you to watch,( adds)Imparja are the big people with all the say, But the ABC n SBS have all their chn. on, HELLO DERR. Some one should tell them we can watch the news early on the ABC when over here in the west. SBS have adds ? Plus when we watch C7 we know there the adds are from, because it tells us..big smile...
Would be so easy to just have it like it was then all would be happy . BUT Imparja ...I remember when they wanted $50 to turn your card back on. And Optus charged $100 for the card. Then all the com.stations had to be added to that...
Thats why the good old GOLD card came into play. Some how that got up their nose. It cost a lot to buy the Ideto incription for each card that is in play, and the up keep of all this Bull....t. That could be one reason why they stop the card each 6 months to save a little .. Im guessing this but its close to whats going on... Been into Hamradio for 35 years and you hear whats realy going on... Its a joke but the sad bit is its real....

Re: Vast renewal
I purchased a Vast box some time ago before digital kicked in and didn't do the 6 months renewal and they turned it off , maybe a little more than 2 years ago.
I still have the Vast box and what I think is the gold card that came with it.
Now that I'm about to start travelling and think about a roof maount manual dish.
Will my vast box still work and can I re activate the card, or do I gotta start over.
Cheers

Re: Vast renewal
If it is a vast digital box (would have been an Altech if purchased pre-changeover as that was the only supplier)
If already registered , set it up and leave switched on and go to https://www.mysattv.com.au/Cert_Renewal.aspx to reactivate,
Most likely it will need to download a firmware update.

Re: Vast renewal
Is it 12v or 240v ?
If it's 240 you can get it changed, parts available for $75 and fit yourself.
