Re: Melbourne
"tanks" here--- I could lend you the Sprinter if you are really stuck, but it is a long way to drive over there, and will take me about 3 or 4 days.
Keith.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Keith.
You've just finished an incredible solo drive getting it back to the west!
I think you deserve a rest... and enjoy your reunion with Russell!
Pull up a beer and open a chair!

Re: Melbourne
Hi all, Well the sager with Jayco has flaired up again.
While they where fixing the roof Jayco also carried out a recall order to gas proof the storage locker (I knew about it) , but what they did was to sectionise the locker so now nothing over 545mm can fit in.
As for the gas proofing the dividing wall has a hole in it to allow the front leg adjustment bar through which of course allows any gases into the untreated side.
After talking to the Vic Building Authority the gas proofing is inadequate.
cheers Peter

Bloody hell Peter tell them to jam the useless thing, you have had nothing but the run around crap dance from that mob since the minute you picked it up. What a pack of twats.

Re: Melbourne
Peter, it's time to stop this nonsense and demand to only deal with Jerry Ryan (Mr Jayco owner himself). For a start he owns a caravan park fairly close to Melbourne and he should be offering free accommodation to you and yours at Ngambie Lakes, until the van is repaired to your satisfaction. I am very biased, we have a jayco and are very happy with it, but no matter where the vans come from, there seem to be some that are just not quite as good as they should be.
Whatever you do, don't accept any repair that does not seem right to you. This is your pride and (I hope) joy, so do pursue it until you get the van that you deserve... a quality jayco, of course.

Re: Melbourne
Dogs are fine thanks Dot i think they liked their holiday, Jayco have stopped production of the 5 wheelers and are on order only now.
This a copy of the email of complaint I sent to jayco;
" I write this email protesting the sectionalising of my front storage locker into two lockers under the guise of gas proofing.
As per https://www.recalls.gov.au/content/inde ... Id/1059633 ,which states that the "The gas bottle storage compartment MAY not be correctly sealed."
The recall was to test and if necessary gas proof the compartment
Was the locker tested and where is the report on such.
Has the gas proofing been certified.
I am told by yourself that sectionalising the locker is a Jayco and legal requirement, yet the recall does not state that the gas bottles have to be separated into their own compartment.
In the photos provided you can see that there is a hole in the divider through which the bar for adjusting the front legs passes , this in itself will allow any gases to pass from one compartment into the other and as this side has not been treated the original problem remains
This hole also rubs on the bar and may be a possible source of ignition.
The most effective way of gas proofing would have been to put a membrane across the ceiling of the entire locker.
Jayco have now reduced the only storage capacity I had to 545mm wide , I am now unable to store bulky things like folding chairs etc and would never have purchased the van as it stands now."
I received an email back from Jayco service manager:
" Hi Peter,
Thank you for your email. Myself and Dean don’t know the laws in regards to recalls.
We have forwarded your email on for review to the National Service Manager who looks after recalls and the legality of them; for answers for us and for you.
We will let you know what we find out from him.
Kind Regards,
Pete "
On receipt I lodged a complaint with the Vic Building Authority regarding the ineffective method of gas proofing used.
I am hoping that Jayco will remove the divider and install a membrane across the entire length of the storage locker and return it to purchase state .
If this fails then I will lodge a complaint with the ACCC as Jayco has now changed the van to a point that;
a. It has a problem that would have stopped someone from buying it if they’d known about it,
b. it is significantly different from the sample or description, and
c. it creates an unsafe situation. (gas proofing as is at the moment).
cheers peter

Re: Melbourne
Peter,
I am still advocating that you contact Jerry Ryan, go above the twats heads. He is a very reasonable and pleasant person, who would be devastated at the way you, and your rig, are being treated. Tell him exactly what you have said here and exactly how you would expect the company to rectify your problems. I think you will find a far better response than the ones you have received.
I am wishing you all the luck in the world, but I believe we make our own luck, so go for it mate!

I would also agree with Deborah's suggestion of going to the top . When the little fish just brush you off from this one to that one go for the big banana (so to speak) Glad the puppies were happy
